Read your own damn quote over and over again, and maybe you'll understand why I think it makes you look like an elitest snob (A.K.A someone who usually thinks themselves better than everyone else for no other reason other than they're deluded, arrogant and closed minded). You didn't hurt my feelings, I love calling people out on their BS. __________________________________________________________________________________________ |

You talked to one person who thought WoW was better than original SWG and played some single player games. Then you try to say that is representative of nearly 11 million people. Only "real" mmo players... sheesh get over yourself. You didn't post an opinion, you posted a gross generalization. |

Yep, completely agree, people like this poster just don't happen to like being called on their BS. They like to keep believing that somehow they are "special" because they were there at the beginning, the "golden age" of MMO's. It was a good thing I didn't turn out that way, I was there too, but in no way do I try to paint myself as somehow being the "know it all" of MMO's let alone make the kind of gross assumptions people like this poster make. __________________________________________________________________________________________ |

I liked MMOs better when gamers didn't play them, and just geeks did. |

Simply I dont want to play any game, not even WoW- for half year or more just to get nice gear (set) -over and over again... Its sad, but thats te point of wow... You play hard and get best items... And when u get it... They sucks - hard... U "must" raid or play PvP min. 5-6h / day... In the old days I realy enjoyed WoW... Done some hard PvP - and I was Marshal with my pally... Then, killing in pvp didnt amuse me anymore... I played PvE then... I entered great guild on my server, and got T1 and few T2 items... Then it came Naxramas (we didnt played it)... Now every day u get new set, and old one sucks hard... and thats sucks... Simply i dont have any time for that anymore... I work now, I have only 3 exams left to graduate college, I have GF that I will marry (maybie), I have friends outside of virtual world... and I want to play the game that I enjoy... Quantity some time sux too... i preffer quality... Quality that I dont find any more in WoW (some one else might) ... GL HF :D |

You can play as much or as little as you like and still advance your character. If you feel that you simply MUST have the absolute best items that are available as soon as they come out and if you don't then your items suck, well that is a rather bleak outlook if you ask me. I'm not trying to pick on you honestly, but what you describe is often called purple fever. As for not wanting to play a game for half a year to keep getting new sets of gear I am afraid you might have trouble finding a fantasy MMO that doesn't revolve around that model of gameplay. If the endgame isn't raiding based odds are it is PvP in nature. It sounds like you just might not like what most MMOs offer as an endgame. At least WoW has lots more non-raid avenues for end game advancement than most MMOs I can think of. |

Never trust the rankings on this site. The reason people here bash it is because it's popular. Elitist don't like to be associated with anything popular. It destroys their street credibility. Let's use a Metallica. They always had big underground following. As soon as Metallica started selling as many records as Britney Spears, a lot of people bashed them and claimed they hated them. The music was watered down and simple compared to their first three albums. It wasn't so much that it was bad music as it was Metallica selling out in the eyes of their earlier fans. I was one of them. I am claiming no innocence. It's human nature. I'm not a WoW fanboi. I tried it and it didn't hold my interest for very long. I am not even a Blizzard fan. The only game they made that I thought was ok was Lost Vikings. I didn't like WC, SC or Diablo. All 3 of those games were watered down versions of better games in my eyes. But just because I don't like them doesn't make them bad games. The truth is the majority of people in the world like simple and clean. It's easier to keep someones attention. That's why the Beatles have sold millions of records. That's why Britney Spears can sell more records than a band like Dragonforce. That's why a band like AC/DC sells more than Joe Satriani. They play three chords over a simple blues beat. it's simple and people can hum along. Most people like crap they can hum to, not chaos. Or as Green Jello used to say: The Moral of the story is bands can easily amuse the audience with a stupid puppet show. In gaming terms..That's why Blizzard sells millions of every game they make. That's why WoW is more popular than EQ2 or Vanguard or another of their closest "competitors." That's why Sony and Lucas Arts changed SWG so drastically (although it backfired on them.) Shame on them! |

Reminds me of a colleague who told me that I had predjuges towards him asking him to take down his leggs from the desk at work. How it made me feel intolerant/ignorant. Anyhow all this controvercy around a seemingly straight forward and immensly popular game like WoW I think is typical for any large success. It has to be in the middle of the road somewhere. One is for sure, Blizzard gain a lot of money on their game, which make them more able to make a good and flawless game and therefore WoW has an unquestionable advantage on that part of the quality aspect. Well I have jet to play it myself. |

I play VG now and come from WOW. I did enjoy WOW at the beggining and put in a lot of time. WOW is a first step for new MMORPGers to learn and understand then move on. As a whole though it is nothing more then a stepping stone to real MMO's. I know the rating's were done a while ago, but if they re-reviewed it I think it would be even worse. Blizz has made WOW so easy in the last few patches its dumb. You can really tell they are trying there best to get new people to 70 for the expansion. I personally had to leave wow because I seriously thought I was playing with 5 year olds. Every day it gets worse and worse. If you think EQ2/VG has Elitest you need to play at 70 in WOW. People have two attitudes, either they think your 5 years old or they are 5 years old. |

Fun while grinding, um no... After playing VG I can say that there is no fun in grinding in WOW. In VG if I dont want to quest I can go do some crafting. WOW's version of crafting is getting two items type in 20 hit the button then go get a beer. |

I like the simple crafting system in wow. A complex system does not make it any more fun, in my oppinion. I've tried the system in EQ2 for instance, and even though it's more detailed and you can create items of different qualities etc I still found wow more fun and rewarding. |
