OK, just interested to know who has played or does play either Warhammer Fantasy Battles or Warhammer 40k Battles. These are the two Table Top turn-based combat systems (one is fantasy and one is sci-fi) . Currently, Games Workshop (the originator of the IP) is celebrating a 25th anniversary. I have read books now and then of both fantasy and 40k flavours and played the RTS games for both fantasy (Mark of Chaos) and Sci-Fi (Dawn of War) but just recently decided to give WHFB a go. www.games-workshop.com is their website if you are curious about a lot of the "stuff" that you might run accross in WAR, by the way.

I used to play, but a lack of other people nearby who also play has pretty much put a stop to it.  Mostly a Wood Elf player, but Empire is just too good looking not to play.

If they EVER made a video game that simply, copied the table top I'd buy it in a second.  Just give me online play so I can play my table top with people all over the world and I'd be there in an instant.  Sorta like when magic the gathering did a game.

Mark of Chaos is real-time and not global, but they released an expansion that did add global combat. It's called Battle March and hasn't released in the United States yet. I think it's slated for fall. There are already leagues and whatnot (following point systems and other restrictions) to follow WHFB closely in Europe.

I played Undead (back before they were split into different armies) in Warhammer Fantasy, Blood Angels in Warhammer 40k , Dwarves (back before they took them out) in Epic and Halflings in Bloodbowl. By the way, for any interested, there's a new Bloodbowl game coming out for PC. Really awesome graphics compared to Chaos League.

Used to have almost every army 2K points and up for both 40K and fantasy at some point. I gave that up here the end of last year.

Now I'm only playing Dragon Dice and AT-43, better rulesets, and no reason to spend painting miniatures anymore, which was one aspect of the hobby I hated over time.

There is a draw back, but looking at my shiny UNA force and my massive collection of Lava Elves always brings me back down to earth.

You should take a look at some of the scifi stuff as well. The stuff by Dan Abnett is top notch. I loved the Gotrek and Felix stuff, though. It just seems like there is more of the 40k stuff floating about.

Big Bang happened. and life happened. then you trolls somehow got here?

played my friends back up orc army at some matches but never had the money to go off and get my own built up.... seems the tabletop is dimming out  but the MMO can only help it and might get back to working on an army ....

I used to play both, plus epic scale, Bloodbowl, Necromunda, and a few others. I don't anymore for the simple reason that I moved to a location where no one else plays.
