Good Fight.

Ive tried this game before, and I found it interesting. I didnt like how its not gear oriented, but based on skills. But ive gotten over it because I think its fun otherwise. I wanted to know, is it a game you can really get hardcore into? I know its actually beatable and the games are expansions but different stories. But is it still a game a hardcore MMOer could really get into? If it is, ill probably be buying it. Any info? Thanks.

In my opinion, yes. Guild Wars appeals both to casual and hardcore gamers.

Firstly, you have 3 campaigns and an expansion. That's alot of PvE content to get through. It will take you a good deal of time to finish them all. Once you're done with them all with one character, the majority of people roll another character simply to try something different. Many end up enjoying it so much they play through the PvE content again.

In the process of doing this, you can work towards a good numbers of titles, which are for prestige and some even have some use. Also, there are plenty of Elite missions you can run as well as save up to buy high-end armor sets.

Apart from this, you still have the entire world of PvP to get into! I find it very, very addictive. I'm not usually a PvP-oriented person, but these days it's all I do in Guild Wars.

All-in-all, it's what you make of it. I've logged around 1450 hours in Guild Wars so far. Don't know if you can consider that hardcore, but yeah Hope you have fun.

Guild Wars is a very PvP based game.  I'm not saying its ONLY PvP, not by a long shot.  there is a lot of PvE content, but back in the day the PvE content was just to unlock all the PvP items and skills you needed for that.

The hardcore aspects of the game are Titles, and PvP rank.  Some titles are easy, like the protector titles and even the spearmarshal title.  some take hundreds of hours, and others have never been maxed out (gladiator title)

PvP rank comes down to Hero battles and guild battles.  anyone can do them, you can hop right into HA without anyone else (its 1v1 with heroes you control), and for GvG you just need to grab a guild, or be guest invited into one.  you can even use a few heroes to fill out your team.

However only hardcore players ever get up to the high ranked guilds.  and its not just a timesink, you have to be decent at it.

So while i wouldn't rate it as hardcore when put next to say... Lineage2.  its got a very deep and complex PvP system and has some things in the game you won't be able to finish as a casual.

I dont agree

Sorrows Furnace was added PVE content, Sept 2005, 6 months after GW launched

guildwars.wikia.com/wiki/Sorrow%27s_Furnace

it's pure PVE content -- SF added no new skills for PVP

I played GW at launch and I never did any PVP until Factions

(Fort Aspenwood)

Id disagree about Guild Wars being PVP heavy game, infact thats pretty much laughable since any moron could tell you just by the population of the PVP areas that only maybe 5% of the total playewrbase is PVP'ing.

PVP is nice but no mistake this game is mostly about PVE with all the content, titles, events etc. Like I said just go into any pvp area and count the people then goto a town, its obviouse whos playing what. If youre want deep but casual PVP game youll be disappointed with this game unless you join a guild, but thats just a bad excuse since everything even work is fun with guildes/friends. Theres better PVP games out there but this one is definately one of the best PVE experiences out right now.

I'm playing it for 3 years now, gets boring of course, but the PvP is amazing...  I've been in a PvP guild for the last 2 months now (top 100, I'm observable!). To me PvP is the best part of any game, if you have the same preference, buy it!

If you're hardcore, get your mic/vent up, get used to the PvP. Work your way to the top, and we might fight each other one day, in the monthly automated tournament. There are 3 Hero Battle tournaments every day, 3 GvG tournaments every day. And 1 big monthly tournament, with $10.000 prizes, I think.

The only thing keeping me from advising this game to everyone is the community. Take an event (like the dragon festival), a lot of hardcore GW'ers, and 1 WoW fanboi, and you get a 1 hour flamefest. Or even better, go to random arenas European district english 1, and wait for; Elisa Bowguard/Silver Desmerine/Blue Perception, and meet the most pathetic person in-game! Always flaming new players, while he hasn't achieved anything so far. He has r12 luxon rank, but some people got that far from leeching... His builds are truly pathetic usually, especially on blue perception his AB character. etc. You could try to play with him for a while, I always seem to amuse myself with that.

Just 1 piece of advise, ALWAYS bring resurrection signet, or the wannabe-elitists will hate you. Don't run away when almost dead, or the wannabe-pro's will hate you. Don't use pvxwiki builds, or the wiki-haters will hate you... Apart from that, find yourself a good guild, and you'll enjoy the community, but there are plenty of retards. Avoid them, annoy them, your choice.

You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up.

Hehe I and a few old guild mates created a bunch of Perceptions! I made Pink Perception, another made Orange Perception etc. then we all went and stood around him at Alliance Battles. He really is a noob. He was flaming people in AB for "sucking," when he was doing nothing to help the case by standing there.
