WEATHERFORD, Texas  —  A man was sentenced to more than 4,000 years in prison Wednesday for sexually assaulting three teenage girls over two years.

A day after finding James Kevin Pope guilty, jurors sentenced him to 40 life prison terms — one for each sex assault conviction — and 20 years for each of the three sexual performance of a child convictions.

At the request of prosecutors, state District Judge Graham Quisenberry ordered Pope to serve the sentences consecutively, adding up to 4,060 years. He will be eligible for parole in the year 3209, according to the Parker County District Attorney's Office.

"We believe it was a just result," prosecutor Robert DuBoise said, adding that he was "overwhelmed" with the judge's decision to stack the sentences.

Pope, 43, abused the girls for nearly two years. It came to authorities' attention earlier this year after Pope made several inappropriate comments to a friend, who notified Child Protective Services.

During the trial, the teens testified about the abuse, and their sexually explicit photographs were shown as evidence.

"If it was as traumatic as they indicate, they would be able to give you (specific dates and times of the incidents). Simply because it's shocking doesn't make it true," Alley said.

During the sentencing phase of the trial, a U.S. Secret Service agent testified that while examining Pope's home computer, he found more than 200 images of child porn.

Later Wednesday, some jurors said the case was difficult because of the subject matter.

"We were careful not to make any mistakes in viewing and evaluating the evidence," said juror Dale Lewis.

Did I miss something or did this article not state the age of the girls?  And what does "abuse" consist of?  Are they 19?  17?  12?  Did he abduct and rape them?  Or did the girls drop by his house to get it on a few times?  Its kind of hard to say "hang him" when all we know is he had a sexual relationship with someone younger than him...

Yeah though thats pretty messed up.  I don't even know how a defense lawyer even defends that.   2 Years? I mean come on now.  With any luck he'll get the same treatment in jail though.

Teala do you think Ben Franklin should have been hung for taking a 15 year old wife?  Just curious XD

Different times and different cultures at the time.   It is legal to marry in Alabama at the age of 14.   in many states you can marry at the  age of 16 with perantal consent.   That was not what this case was about.  It was about the sexual abuse of two girls by an adult.  To even bring up Ben Franklin in this topic is just crazy.

I have no idea how old the girls were; but Im assuming they were young and it wasn't conscentual (sp) as the sentence was severe. I assume they got raped raped....as in, against their wishes.

No, no, no.

What you do is this:

You beat his ass into submission and tie his hands.

You drive him to an abandoned shed/house/etc. ( buy 10 gallons of gas in a can on the way ).

You strip him naked.

You lay him on the floor with his legs spread.

You then proceed to nail his penis and balls to the floor, using many rusty nails ( this will undoubtedly wake him up, so make sure you brought a friend or two to hold him down ).

You then pour the gasoline everywhere, but leave a nice berth around where he is at so the fire will take some time to reach him.

Hand him a hacksaw.

 Tell him to have a nice day.

Walk out and throw a match.
