Do you love or hate AOC? Why? Why do other people hate AOC so much?, but they are still here. What draws you to love playing this game? Thoughts and votes please. Lets try to keep this thread civil.

Note* Funcom lied to me is not a valid answer, because they are not the 1st game to not deliver everything they told the consumer.

"In EVE, no one gives a damn about a fair fight." - chafin

Couldn't vote, you didn't have "playing the game in spite if itself" as a choice.

ATM, I just hit level 50.  I can't say I love this game.  Frustrations of mine have not been bugs, or lack of quest content (yet), but rather things like not really being able to buy my first mount until level 60 due to the lack of gold despite being able to ride one as level 40.  (borked economic model IMO)

Gathering professions that are open, yet tiered, so I can't even gather the 2nd tier of materials until just now, when I hit level 50, and who knows when the 3rd tier (Adept will be...level 70?)

PVP.  While I have had some fun fights, the lack of any reward makes it more or less useless to bother doing.  The only time I really engage is if someone ganks me first, or if they are camping a boss or something that I currently want and don't feel like waiting for.

The loneliness is pretty rough too.  No real reason to PUG, and most of my guild mates are all 10-15 levels above me, coupled with quest based content which means we'd never be in sync anyways and makes for a terrific solo experience.... but not much of a social game.

Yet, I keep soldiering on, striving for level 80 to see if this game improves once I clear some of these hurdles.  If not, I'll be returning to EVE until the next game of 2008 is released.

canceled account

- lack of content (main is about lvl 70)

- buggy crafting system

- nearly everybody prefers to play alone (which is supported by the game system)

- atm no longtime motivation

... and no i don´t play another mmorpg atm.

I enjoy this game alot, does that mean everyone else will? no. The game has bugs, but what game doesn't. I think people hate aoc because they expect too much out of game devs and when they don't deliver to the consumers, they turn on them like a pack of wild dogs. Sometimes I think people just forget that these are nothing more than games, they aren't jobs. RL Jobs = Stress. Games are suppose to be an escape from RL stress, well for me anyways it is.

I love playing aoc, theres something about it, that makes it fun for me. Maybe it is because I don't care if a zone is too small, or if something doesn't work the way it should, or if pvp is jacked up, usually when I run into these issues, I move on....

Maybe my approach to this game is unusual.

I don't think AoC is really a MMORPG... I've just cancelled my subscription after two months of casual playing.

AoC is instanced, so there are only 25 players on the same region per time. There is no world sense, as there are only "zones", conected one to each other by people that lets you travel. This means that you can't go walking from Cimmeria to Stigia, for example. There's only a npc that takes you there in 2 secs, which kills the sensation of beeing on a big world...

By other side, there is one starting zone, 3 cities, 3 zones for lvl 20-40, 1 zone for lvl 40-50, another for 50-60, 60-70, 70-80, and some instances. This makes a total of 11 zones... and they are quite little (it takes around 5 minutes to go running from each corner).

The game system is as funny as bugged. There are zillions of them.

PvP is a joke, for not speaking about class-balancing (just ask a necro XD).

Crafting is bugged at all.

Finally, a special mention for the Customer Care service. They are like aliens: people says they exist, but nobody has seen them

This is my sincere feedback. My intention is not to offend or bother. I'm just expressing my opinion.

Cheers!

Est Sularus Oth Mithas

Im enjoying it. Raiding is decent now that we have access to Tier2, the pvp minigames are fun if you form premades, and sieging will be better when the other guilds on the server reach that point, currently we're the only guild with a battlekeep.

Anway, great game for its current state. I love how people say theres a lack of content, what game has ever had this much this close to release.

anyway, these forums are horrible for flames, i'll leave it as that. Most people that knock it haven't bothered hitting the cap.

Yeah.  My write in vote would be "nothing else new and interesting" to play at this moment.  AoC is okay, but I would jump that ship in a heartbeat for something new.

I will definitely leave for WAR to see how that is.  In description and ads, AoC was an awesome and exciting gritty game with survival of the fittest gameplay and a deep guild involvement system.

However, we got something much different and lacking the best of what they described and sold it as.

Meh.  I will play it for now and go where my guild goes.
