OP, if you've never gotten past level 10, go play the darn game.  Its got a lot of great qualities, and for about 18 months I enjoyed it.  Been away for more than that now, game just doesn't contain the sand-box type elements I'm looking for in my games these days, but doesn't mean WOW's a bad game.

Too easy? Cause grinding in other games is harder? WRONG!

Noone hates WoW.

Its just that WoW have become some "standard" for how a MMO should be. Think if Bush would become one for politics.

There's multiple reasons to the WoW hate.

Personally I'm in the #3 category with a bit of #1... I can give WoW and its developers credit that they made a good game, but I have some differences with the direction of their design... such as the class/level system and whatnot... So my personal hate is from the design view and that no other developers are trying new things to create better games.  They just want to follow the direction of WoW (which is the "tried-and-true" formula from previous linear MMOs), and that isn't good for the MMO genre in the long run, so...

you left out one someone dislikes the setting of WoW I never liked the setting which WoW occurs in, I don't hate the game just don't like what I experience. The game is well made enough but it's not for me.

Personally I think Blizzard is a great company who puts out good titles but there is always some titles which doesn't entierly fall in taste. Doesn't mean it's a bad game same goes for all the popular hate against other games. Either people like it or not no reason to start new topics about it all the time.

And Wow is an evolution of resets of individual greed. And a very good one at that.

Anyway sorry I won't see you there, not enjoy the end game content at all and not gonna spend the money for an expansion just to get a so called "hero" class which is in fact just a regular "new" class and get to lv 80 then quit again.

Stop talking about greed anyway, everyone is greedy but it has nothing to do with playing WoW.

Think the greed thing is talking about Blizzard. Blizzard has EVERYTHING to do with greed. There is getting paid for your work and service and there is Greed. Blizzard is the later.

Reason why people hate Blizzard/WoW:

1. They alienated people who like the lore by mangling it- Gnome DK ftw!

2. They alienated PvPers- Arena ftw

3. They rarely keep promises but make them all the time to quell outrage- Blink fixed yet? How about them saying Invis will be retooled and put back in game and then waited until expansion time.

4. They withhold content to keep people paying money(greedy)- BWL, C'thun, raids really.

5. They take forever to fix problems- Mana shield absorbing ALL damage took how many patches? The whole Class patches where some classes were left to wallow for a year or more. Hey does the Horde base in AV still suck? You betcha! Even after 3 revamps in the exact wrong direction they still haven't fixed it.

Just the top 5 for me but in no particular order. Honestly who wouldn't hate a company that disabled account management to keep people from cancelling subscriptions. Anyone else remember looking at WoW prior to launch and reading at how much PvP it will have?

WoW itself as a game is decent, the company behind it though leaves a lot to be desired. They could fix just about everything wrong in WoW in a month but don't because it doesn't bring in enough money to do so.

So you wanted to know why people hate WoW? Blizzard and their unscrupulous practices. If you just play the game and don't watch their forums you might never notice it but if you do then you quickly understand the pure BS they spout at every turn.

I personally loved WoW.

I don't play it anymore cos the expansions weren't coming fast enough and it seemed all the same.

Shame really, I liked it.

He talked about "I want that shiny piece of gear", so yes he is talking about player's greed, not Blizzard.

Btw in terms of fixing problem I don't blame Blizzard, MMORPG is not as easy to manage as a single player RPG.

And Wow imitates it in a perfected way in a video game. That's why it sells AND people keep paying for it.

If you don't see this, well how many phone cells did you buy over the last 5 years. Still wearing the same shoes and pants the last 5 years? TV, cars, dvd's?

You UPGRADE every day in RL and are constantly out for more , so why should a good developped MMORPG be any different.

WOW made a perfect copy of RL greed and economics and it doesn't take out the characters evolution (talents), It resets the shoes, the pants and greedy needs.

It does this with an almost perfected motivation factor: people are always getting rewarded - no matter what - and of course in RL a lot of people never get a reward they should deserve (housewives ....),

So Wow is based on an ever resetting of greed factor coupled with rewards.

It just shows it was the perfect MMORPG in a booming internet gaming segment.

All others fail in this very basic entertainment factor --- and that's why there is Wow hate. "Because MY game is NOT as popular as Wow, so I want to destroy it."

BTW: anyone stating they HATE ... a game should see a doctor as soon as possible please.
