Couldn't agree more, swg was/is the most epic failure in the world of MMO's that i have ever heard of. When you see a partnership with only greeders to make a game the result is this what you guys who didn't play see. There is not one vet that talks good things about the game. I am another vet, played in bloodfin, grinded my jedi with 32 professions (the last was bounty hunter, the most pain in the neck profession to master) SOE invited me to leave the game (is the only way to say politely the way the wiped and betrayed the player base) and after this day i promised myself to never more even look to a game launched by SOE. Launched the game in beta status, continued patching the game, there was a major patch every month, a minor patch every week, insane server downtimes, every patch fixed 10 bugs and created 100 more. They deserve it because they didn't respect the players that was playing the game in that time I guess what passed by the head of these idiots was something like "hey, we have a Star wars mmo! why we don't have the 5 million subscribers that world of warcraft with cartoon graphics and easy gameplay has? lets delete everything, try to copy them and lets go for the world domination in the MMO market! wohoooooooooooooooooooo" But they were wrong, the mistakes are still there. For those who wanna remembers, this is the pre revamp jedi trees, cya and sorry by my crap english http://www.calil.net/pre_revamp_jedi_trees.htm Hugs from brazil. |

Wow the jedi branch stuff sure makes me miss the old game. I just barely got my Jedi initiate right before the debacle. I did mine via the village and worked through the engineering trees to make a uber crafter with all those jedi crafting perks. Then they threw it all away. None of the perks were even transferrable and it took them 6 months to fix it so that crafters could respec out of crafting to an adventure class. If some poor sod decided to try crafter then respec out of crafting they lost their ranks. |

I think the folks here at mmorpg.com said it best in their blurb on the newsletter. the best thing they could say about it was: "The game is still up and running" LOL I had just gotten my visit from the old man... a week later: lvl 90 Jedi

That is pretty lame for a roleplaying game. I agree with everyone else, this game died a long time ago. They are just grabbing at straws now. |

This is definitely NOT a 5 year anniversary. It continues to boggle my mind that they have chosen to hold onto this garbage CU. If they had even the tiniest measure of business sense, they'd bring back the pre-cu product. I can guarantee their subscription numbers would quadruple within a month. They are pathetic imbeciles and worthy of being crapped upon daily. In real life.
Get a clue, SOE! If they haven't gotten it by now, they obviously never will. Whoever runs this company should be shot in the sack with a taser. |

Current song stuck in my head: "Between the Wheels" - Rush |
I had almost forgotten about SWG... until reading about their 5th anniversary. This game is still around? Most people I knew started leaving after the CU (as I did). All the rest left after NGE. 5th anniversary? Sounds like a very somber party... |

UO + DAoC + SWG + SL + EQII + LOTRO = Near perfect MMORPG. |
I'm still traumatized by what they did to this game. I had found a game that I absolutely loved and they gave it a lobotomy! If they had just left the game the way it was and added to it, it would be one heck of an anniversary. *Sighs* I still get yearnings to play this game.. the way it was... there isn't anything else out there that is like it was. Which sucks, completely.

You are entirely correct Chaotica, a great MMO does not really have to be that innovative, all the pieces and parts have already been on display in the various games you have listed under your picture. Just a suggestion, I would add in AC1 in there. It had some very unique qualities that would really be a big help to a new MMO. The hard part is selling investors on a game that does not fit the Wow mold, because a game of that scope cannot be made by a small indie developer. The sad thing is that I do not see any of the big development projects even coming one bit close to this, they are all stuck in the rigid class mode design. *Sighs*
