They couldn't bring up new servers fast enough at first. In fact, there was a window that you couldn't find a single box in stores and there were pages and pages of posts on the forums for people trying to locate copies for their friends. So, probably the real test is to see what subscriptions look like at 6 months (or even a year). |

wow.. You can't really be serious... This game has lost over 80% of it's initial players already, anyone with half a brain is not gonna continue subbing for this game, there just isn't enough content. take a 0 off of the end of those numbers and it will be more realistic. |

Budweiser might be the King of Beers, but I still think it's undrinkable horse urine. The same analogy might be made with Age of Conan, but I wouldn't go that far myself. |

I think they may have purposefully not distributed enough boxes and played this through to keep post-launch hype very high, and it worked, as you can see.

Err... Actually, there is alot of content, it's just endgame. You really think AoC is going to dip down to 60k subs next month? Who's being unrealistic, wtf? |

Like not having the enjoyable stuff it should have, or crashing out on people who have super rigs.
Also, in response to the OP. It has a 10 million player climb to be king of anything but the second tier. Basically...you just called AoC "King of 4th place!" Why 4th? Because I can name at least 3 other games with more players. Can't be the "King" when you have the least customers. Whats embarrassing here, really, is that free to play junk it out performing it. But, then, free to play junk has been outperforming most of the market for years now. Raking in more cash too....since it costs so much less to upkeep em. We CALL them AAA games....but really, saying something is AAA implies that it offers something absolutely superior to B-listers. None of them really do. They offer "slightly better" quality. We pay them for that....aren't we dumb? |

LAWLCAKES! AoC will NOT, I repeat will NOT! dethrone WoW., and heres why: 1.) The game isn't that fun. I have a level 80 and I basically grinded all the way there. Really not much to do while leveling, exploring is hard, and FC considers crafting to be end game. 2.) It requires too good of a computer. I have a midrange computer, one that is probably better than around 75% of WoW players, yet at the settings I have AoC at right now, it doesn't look much better graphically than WoW. 3.) The game isn't seamless. I am not quite sure why, but zones kill immersion. When I played WoW I would wander around, explore, climb, and feel like I was in world and I was my character. When I play AoC I feel like a guy sitting at a computer killing mobs in a square zone. 4.) buggy as hell! If you play the game, you know this, I am not going to elaborate.
Don't give me that OOOOO it's still early! UO had a terrible release and it turned out to be a good game. Well this is 10 years after UO. MMOs are not in their infancy anymore and they should have problems like server crashes every 5 minutes. These 10 years are ones where MMOs have developed, where we have come to expect more.
P.S. I am not a WoW fanboi, I promise. (Haven't played the game in over a year.) "Time is not money, it is much more; |

80%? whered you hear that stat? Im guessing AoC will continue getting subs until around late August or early September, then slowly go on a decline. "Time is not money, it is much more; |

Oh good god, anyone that thinks the OP is remotely serious(if he/she is , they re on crack) should give their head a shake. This game was pushed out too soon, and to many is not even fun, even if there weren t any bugs, missing content etc. It will have it s following but i will say what i said probably 6 months ago. It will be a niche game when all is said and done and have maybe 150k-200k subs tops. Thats good still but the king my god no way. |

Cause if you are a veteran gamer (which I suspect you are) you should have bought a million crappy games by now, like all of us. Pretty sad when people consider the new king of mmo's to have no death penality, and horrible easy leveling.

I am enjoying AoC and hope those playing AoC have fun aswell but hope every other game other people play will be fun to them aswell, we really need to stop these type of selfish post. There for i truly hope WAR will do well for those looking forward to it, but am already afraid that people who bash these type of games will continue to do so regardless what game, cause lets face it both sides meaning the haters and the fanboy's seem to have a very jalouze way of looking at games in this genre. Where gamers use to hope that each game would be fun if not for themselfs hope it's fun for others. But these day's "kids" need to bash a game or hype a game in a selfish kind of way. A shame forums have come to this. ------------------------------------------------------------ |

They introduce a new melee combat system, for you this is not a new idea? All other mmos use auto-attack They introduce seige warfare, for you this is not new? Beside RVR and Eve this is new to Fantasy MMOs. They have a host of new classes, mounted combat etc And then you say it lacks direction and ideas, meh........ you a troll no doubt :P |

I could prove almost all of the flaming idiots wrong easily, but god damn I get tired of trying to knock sense into mindless WoW drones all damn day. So all I will say is Age of Conan kicks some serious ass. flame this I don't give a shit because I'm not looking at this thread again. |

lmao, just pleae get a grip on reality. You call aoc's pvp siege, its more like 20 people on screen with lag killing people. new classes? please show me the new classes. Do you know anyhting about AoC? how can i debate with you when you dont even acknowledge the new classes!?! Even though they may be similar to others they are new whether you like it or not. The fact that pvp seige is lagging at the moment doesnt mean that it is not a new idea does it? Eve has PVP on a massive scale, do you think it was all up and running on the day of release? New things need time to develop. If you cant wait then sorry, move on and go and play the same old same old. |
