I'm not going to get into what games are better than others, however, I wonder how accurate we can trust the counter on the front page, as I would venture a guess that a lot of people have rated AoC lower than should be. I understand that some people are not happy, but I'd venture a guess that many people have rated it "1", which is lower than you would rate most Korean grinders...

OOO So when AoC was number , that is the only time in mmorpg.com history that the list was correct, and champagne was falling from the ceiling as everyone in AoC forum sang Koombyah ?

I have played five MMOS (COH/COV, EQII, WoW, ArchLord and LOTRO) and to be honest, LOTRO is the best one I've played and deserves to be on top IMO.

I have not tried AoC yet, but will once the game drops down from 50bucks and they fix all the bugs that Ive been hearing about.

Lotro did many things that no other MMO has done, such as having a flawless launch. I was there for beta and launch day, and did not see a glitch. It also has delivered the best free content out of any game I ever played. COH tried to do that with their Issues, but each add-on turned out to be a mosntrous, bug-filled disaster, which off-set the large amount of content that was given to the players.

Now, after taking a 6month break from LOTRO for school purposes, I have returned to Middle Earth and reliazed how much it evolved. THe UI stuff, like the quest log, have received a huge upgrade, many zones and mobs have been tweaked and made more player friendly and fun, especially Angmar.  There are a ton of new quests, items and the game has changed a lot. But at the same time, after all those changes, it still felt familiar and after a few minutes of gameplay, I felt like I never departed from it in the first place.

This game does not deserve a 8.4. It deserves a full 10/10. Any self-proclaimed MMO fan must play it, even a year after its launch and with its first expansion on the Horizon, this game still remains the best out there.

But AoC does not have a free trial system yet, Unless you know someone who bought the game and is willing to give you a code. By the time they launch the trial, the game is gonna be on sale for $20 at every best buy, and I'd rather spend a month or two checking out the game, since 10-14 days is a joke for an MMO.

Read the AoC reviews.  A lot of fanbois said they rated it a 10 overall, that means 10s across the board.  Right.

I gave it a fair evaluation based on my opinion, 5.5 overall.  On the other hand I think my LOTRO overall is 9.0.  A great game, but still not perfect.

But AOC 10 across the board?  LMFAO!  Ridiculous.
