G]iant Quonset huts were erected outside the cafeteria on the CIA's leafy Virginia campus, to house a new team assigned to the Bin Laden mission. In Pakistan, the new operation was staffed not only with CIA operatives drawn from around the world, but also with recent graduates of... the agency's training center…

"We had to put people out in the field who had less than ideal levels of experience," one former senior CIA official said. "But there wasn't much to choose from."

One reason for this… was that by 2006 the Iraq war had drained away most of the CIA officers with field experience in the Islamic world… "We were all hurting because of Iraq."

Well at least we have our priorities straight.... Kill this guy already.(ed)

I''m No Sellout

i thought killing a terrorist spawned 1000 more?

or leave him in his cave unable to do anything but scream death to the west, which falls on deaf ears 'cause al queda is pretty bogged down in iraq. is their al queda in iraq? how did they get their? are they trying to kill our military persons while civilians abroad are kept safe? i'd say bin laden is pretty contained and useless. a puppet figure.

and you want to make him a martyr? i say bring him to gitmo, give him habeus corpis and a good aclu lawyer.

i would like to see GWB capture or kill him.

EDIT: as an october surprise!!! no... than i can see all the angles democrats and their partners in the media will use...

useless edit.

Capturing or kill him would be iconic and would show that you can't plan to crash jets into the United States and get away with it.  As now so many of the extremeists now believe.

Last week in Afghanistan they assualted a prison and hundrends of prisoners escaped.  He is definatley  still an influence and threat.

Instead we would rather float needless billions of tax dollars into government contracts in Iraq.

I mean a guy FROM THE CIA is saying they don't have enough resources because of Iraq how do you argue with that?

EDIT 1 Day later:  Quote from ABC NEWS article cited below:

"Intelligence reports have concluded that bin Laden has re-established a network of new training camps, and the number of recruits in those camps has risen to as many as 2,000 in recent months from 200 earlier this year."

How is it we can't find a man who, literally, stands head and shoulders above anyone else in the area?  Seriously.  You should be able to spot him from space!

Would have left this post dead but then I saw this in the news today...

www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiapcf/07/01/afghan.deaths/index.html

You can argue that it's the summer time and that it is only 2 months but I would say it definatley makes an argument.  We'll have to wait and see what happens the next couple of months.

You could also say that there is 3/4 less troops in Afghanistan and our entire military in Iraq yet Afghanistan has more troop deaths... That is an interesting but scary thought.
