"Life is too short to drink cheap beer"

- Blizzard already asks that one fax or mail (not e-mail)  them ones scanned photo I.D. and 2 additional sheets of information after having them notarized if  ones account is in question.

So ones account is tied up for several weeks in the "investigation" Will this key prevent the time ones account is "Under investigation" ?

Let's just put ones entire character on the key fob inclusive of banked items and gold so as to facilitate immediate character retrieval w/o any down time.

Oh by the way let's also add a security feature to the key fob if stolen or lost where it takes a DNA sample and records this into an international security gaming account retrieval system( I.S.G.A.R.S.) that automatically scans the  key fob with user so a felonious user can't get in to ones account.

OK, now we can prohibit under age people from actually playing the game. One who has applied for the account needs to have the key  to play the game and it will scan the player prior to initializing  the starting sequence of the game.

Sarcasm ON in the above post.

What's next? Rectal (I mean retinal) scans b4 use or to get ones character back? I still am awaiting holo -projection systems with neural implanted gaming chips available.

I love the fall back response of "It's just a game" or "relax, and take a breath,go outside and do something else" when obviously it's gone  waaaay beyond that.  Heck, I remember when the cd keys came out to just load a game, we thought that over the top security as well.

Well this feature is 100% optional and only realy of use to people who use several computers to play WoW or play WoW on PC used by mnay people... an account that has this feature enabled will be immune to keylogging effects =D

Honestly I would be happy if all futures MMO's had something like this.

The weak will always strive to become weaker.

A system like this with a keycard reader is used in Entropia Universe were u deal with real money and it's a great security option. Perfect for people that play at diffrent computers or just have bad internet protection and wanna feel safe that no one can login without having access to their keycard reader.

And it's optional so i don't really see why ppl get upset.

After reading this thread I am further convinced that he average WoW player has a mean IQ of around 82.  The card reader is a very good thing, and you can expect to see a lot more of these type devices in the furture.  The sync time is anywhere from Twenty seconds, which pretty much rules out keygen hacks, and brute force random number generators, any idiot that thinks they can simply use a emulator to bypass this type of a system has no clue about hacking in the twenty first century.  This system has been tested by the Phrozen Crew...trust me kiddies, if these guys can't hack it , then niether can you.

Honestly you chuckle heads should be thanking Blizzard, now you can roam your  pR0nZoR and  b0tZ0rz sites without fear of keyloggers...you will still suck without your autopilot scripts, but there is no cure for mediocrity.

I think the OP is confusing CAPTCHAs with security measures.

Clicking a certain order of buttons or typing in an obscured phrase is used to prevent automated log-ins or usage. This keychain device is used to provide actual security by introducing a physical layer of security.

CAPTCHAs, as used by many websites, add NO security at all. If someone has your username and password, a simple CAPTCHA isn't going to stop them from using your information. In fact, CAPTCHAS have become fairly useless as of late to prevent bots as well.

I think this is a great option for people that might use a public computer (or even share a computer with a room mate or their family) and want a layer of security that can't be bypassed short of physical theft. I would find it usefull as well, though I don't share my computer.

QFT.  I use one for my online banking and it gives an extra layer of security and piece of mind.  I do find it a sad indictment however that it's come to THIS for a game.

This really is a great feature, IF it works as intended, and doesn't end up getting cracked within months. I'm really surprised that so many people think that this is the same level of security as captcha or a simple security code, learn to read people.

As much money that players have pumped into Blizzard via WoW this security feature should be FREE!

I bet this is/was a greedy idea of Activision.

I am sure that blizzard is giving this out at or under cost, as I mentioned above the ones we use at the bank, which do the exact same thing, cost far more to replace.

As to whining about losing it, keep it near your computer, seems it should be pretty hard to lose if you do that.  If you have a problem with losing things, develop a routine where everytime you use it, you have a routine that puts it back in it's place before proceeding in game.
