Perhaps ... it IS true that all game designers and programmers left WOW in 2006 ....

 

The isometric viewpoint is iconic to the Diablo series. If they tried to remove that then they would get burnt quickly.

I personally prefer playing isometric games and am sick to the back teeth of having 3d candy forced down my throat.

The people that created Condor Studios, which was later bought out and renamed Blizzard North, resigned somewhere around 2003 and created Flagship studios. These are the guys that made Diablo.  A big chunk of the team that worked on WoW left as well, going to NCSoft and the Guild Wars project. Blizzard does not have any of the talents that made the company what it is today, and since they have not released anything without those key people, I am really qurious to see what their next game will be. They are currently an over-hyped company, hanging from WoW's success. A game that was made by people that are not there any more. I expect a major decomposition of Blizzards image after they release their next title.

Well I still love to play WOW after 3 years, but I have to agree here.
 

The only ones who go crazy about this new Diablo 2D scroller are the ones who played Diablo 2 to death... 8 years ago. How about Pac Man 2 in full 2D :)))

But hello ??? 2D/3D games with vertical scrolling is for handhelds these days and even these little machines have full 3D like GoW on PSP and Metroid on DS.

Can you imagine playing this "thing" on a 2 Gigabyte PC with 8800 GT cards. And guess what in 2010 when this Diablo3 will come out, you won't even find 8800GT's anymore because of .... too old.

Blizzard IS indeed in trouble when they continue like this. The Blizzard people did hold their breaths at the release of Conan, but I guess they were very lucky FunCON were more interested in making fast hyped CON money than in actually deliver a long term project.

Are a 2D real time strategy SC2 and this pathetic old  2D scroller Diablo3 the future of Blizzard? Wow, better get rid of some Vivendi stock then.

Because World of Warcraft can't live forever and some day a better general MMORPG will come along and then what ???

They had a turnover of 1.2 biljon dollar last year and all they came up with is a 2D vertical scroller thing you can find on any good handheld....

The most important part of a game is if it is fun or not. It doesn't matter that a graphics card can take more punishment or have better use made from it.

We do play games for fun right?

First, big chunk of old devs stayed in Blizzard and also many old devs already returned to Blizzard.. But what are you talking about? 2D scrollers? What are you smoking? I can accept anyone opinions ... if it's not absolutly idiotic.. like yours.

Well..if THIS demo of Diablo3 is 3D than my Zaxxon game of 1982 is also 3D.

No... I stay with my view: UNDERWHELMING. really and SAD at the same time... for a company that has so much money...

You seem to be stuck in a world where you think graphics is god, I got news for you, it isn't and proof of this is AoC. Gameplay over graphics any day. Also unless you are a fan of old school gaming or diablo itself then you have nothing to say. To sick there and complain the game is "fake 3d" is like complaining WoW is tailored to casual games. We fans want the same feel, throwing it into 3d ie Hellgate would be a stupid design choice. It looks great.

Also you better start looking around the PC industry buddy you can find graphic cards 5-6yrs old still the FX series is still around and used on low budget WoW machines, get with the program.
