Monitor flatlines and alarm goes off.  Nurses rush in with crashcart as I escort the dazed fanbois out of the room and to a couch in the lobby.  Fanbois sits down in shock and mumbles, "But there's going to be a starter island.  Surely folks will come over from Conan.  Surely folks will come over."

It amazing how now days ANYONE that enjoys a game is a "fanboy".  Get over it dude.  You didn't like it, A lot of people didn't like it.  Some people do like it.  Why do you possibly care?  Let people enjoy their game.  You worse then those DB's that harass people that enjoy WoW.

its kinda funny how this works.  When I need attention I seek people outside of the virtual world.  When forums and MMOs become the extent of someones interactions is when the issues begin to build. . .

1. Traditional classic high fantasy setting with a lot of magic.
2. Classbased, preferably configurable. No stupid skillbased systems, thank you very much.
3. A lot of complex and interesting to play classes, good fightsystem
4. Huge gameworld with a lot of variance, and no instancing, all typical fantasy races present (elf etc)
5. Preferably a dynamic world where you can actually influence the world as a player.
6. No IP, or at least no lame IP implementation, like LotRO or AoC.
7. I want crafting - the more the better.
8. Challenge. Dont make games easier.
9. PvP with a meaning, if its there. Like in GW. Not like Warhammer or DAoC or WoW.

Vanguard definitely could improve in some of these respects. Still its the best choice.

As there is nothing better than Vanguard, not even at the farest horizont, nope, sorry, you lose. If VG wouldnt be there, I probably would play GW, but while it seems to have great PvP, its not that great in many other respects.

 

you have 3 through 9 in EVE, that's probably as close as you gonna get :D

World design was unfinsihed and non-descript.  Quest and classes systems mutating towards WOW-ness all the time.  This game will never really fly, in my opinion.

Need something to play until better games release?  Civ 4 is holding me over pretty well.  Not an MMO, but something to do between now and then.

Well I see my original post has been removed because someone was offended by my name calling. I have been slapped on the wrists by the powers that be at MMORPG. I apologize to any and all that may have taken offense to my comment.

Have you played Vanguard? No...you state you haven't...so whats the point of this whole thread?  Hmmm

I'm not a fanboi/fangurl...but after a year's absence from Vanguard I am seeing some positive changes..such as playability.......immersion..but Vanguard always had the immersion, just didn't have the optimization.

Your dramatic illustration...for now is ringing shallow my friend....I have been in VG for the past 7 days....and every day I see new faces...every day most of the day the General chat is scrolling...constantly with questions, chatter....jokes..people helping folks...people looking for groups..people giving stuff away that dropped when they were hunting........

I wouldn't say this is a sign of a dead game.........matter of fact I am still handing out free buddy keys..and so are some of my friends and so are people on the VG station forums...in the newbie section..if you care to look.

But ..yes I know all that positive stuff is not what you want to hear.......you want to troll and try to diminish whats going on here.......well sorry my friend......people are coming to Vanguard and discovering they actually like the vast open world.....

Keith Parkinson passed away in 2005 from a terminal illness and yes alot of his work is in Vanguard.

Nah.

I would want 200k subscribers for Vanguard, plus the 100 to 200 devs one can afford with such a number of subscribers, so we get enough new content out to keep players busy.

Then I'm perfectly happy and if the rest of the world population wants to play WoW, AoC, Warhammer or simply picking their nose, so be it.

Yeah EVE is probably a good game, but I'm not into SF games. Number 1 and 2 are not optional. I wouldnt want to skip over them. A game that I am supposed to play for years has to be classic fantasy and high magic, and it has to be classbased. Thats what I like, sorry.

Number 3 cannot be possibly fulfilled by a game that doesnt fulfill number 2. Thats a principial problem of all purely skillbased systems. If all your system offers is a bunch of variables that you can raise, its not possible to have individual behavior of characters, since every skill has to be balanced with every other skill. The drastic opposite is shown in Guild Wars. In GW, you are not only limited to a class (plus a subclass), but you are also limited to 8 different skills max. As a result, GW contains very interesting and specific skills.

Number 4, well EVE has a huge gameworld for sure, but I dont know about big variance in landscapes, and EVE definitely doesnt have the typical fantasy races. Number 4 cannot be fulfilled by a game that doesnt also fulfill 1.

Number 5, I am unaware that EVE is really a dynamic world. Can you really conquer land there ? Or even found your own ? Of course, Vanguard does very little in this respect, too.

Number 9, for all I know, EVE only contains simple banditery. I'm not into that. I want PvP to be sportive, and to have other goals than stealing other peoples equipment.
