I remember posting in that thread awhile back, but it got deleted I may not have been there for that, but I'll be there for the rest of DF! Now how long this will go on for is something only time will tell __________________________________________________ |

This game i can already tell will fail, just due to the fact they havent properly tested it, and if they do release this year. I sense a Vangaurd epic fail release. |

The only actual MMOG that Friction mentioned was WWIIOL. And it sure as hell does not handle large battles well. I played it at launch and for a few years after. I have given it a try a few times since, though not very recently. The WWIIOL client back then limited the number of chars displayed to 64 maximum. Any additional characters were just not displayed by your client. (Here is the kicker - some of those players that are invisible to you, may be able to see and kill you.) Now, I know they were talking about increasing that to 128, but I very much doubt it is beyond that number. Even so, lag was bad, especially as infantry trying to engage infantry. Here is the WWIIOL wiki entry regarding the visibility limit - though they dont give hard numbers for each setting: |

I also played WW2 online from launch for 5 years, and what theogrim says is true, anyone who has actually played WW2 online knows that this statement from Tasos is extremely dubious.
"We’ve been simulating massive battles and sieges with more than two hundred characters and getting a good 30-60 fps on average machines so far. Under normal loads we typically get over 150 fps and there are still several optimizations to be made so we expect these figures to improve quite a bit."
This seems much more likely in my opinion. "We’ve been testing massive battles and sieges with more than two hundred players and getting a good 3-6 fps on average machines so far. Under normal loads we typically get over 15 fps and there are still several optimizations to be made so we expect these figures to improve quite a bit."

I have Darkfall now! |

I had to vote "yes" on a 2008 release. Nothing personal or anything, i just want to play a MMO as DF as soon as possibly. Right now i have nothing to play (MMOs) and i feel i deserve something. |

You're comparing Darkfall with big budget titles like AoC and WAR there. You really should be comparing Aventurine to other small outfits like the people behind Mortal or Fallen Earth etc.
One guy cries "poopy" ... then all the other idiots cry "poopy" too because they want to be in the cool crowd. That sums up the vapour-callers nicely I think. Darkfall does not deserve it's "Vaporware" label. What sparked it was Aventurine taking over Razorwax five years ago or so and starting pretty much from scratch. All the poor emo kiddies then went off to
Funny ... they look like in-game screenshots and in-game videos to me. What's more likely, a game developer releasing vids and pics of the game that they've been working on for five years ... or a developer that has to fake in-game images because they have done nothing after five years? And why would anyone use Blender? It's a user unfriendly piece of crap.
Why would I care about your personal faults?
No, you'll just do what the trolls do in the AoC forums and claim that it isn't functional or playable. What's playable is up to personal opinion.
Don't go emo on me. Where's your balls? (I have first dibs on your left one remember)
No. As long as there is evidence that Darkfall is undergoing development it will remain here on mmorpg. I'm sure the mmorpg administrators will remove it if it stops development. They don't need Vapor-trolls and bored haters telling them what to do.
Why would we care what one vapor-troll does? You're an anonymous person on a forum. The only thing that distinguishes you from everyone else here is the size of your sig. [sarcasm] Oh, no! Your sig will no longer be seen on forums! How terrible! [/sarcasm] ![]() |

They're not great, but having the ability to get 150FPS everywhere and 30-60FPS with 200v200 battles on an average PC in a seamless world is rediculous. It had never been done before in any MMOs before. You can see games struggling to even get 100v100 battles, let alone 200v200 on average computers! Not only that, but if you take DarkFall's AI, graphics, and seamless world into effect, it just makes it more and more unlikely that they actually have the ability to do this. Until they actually prove all of these big statements, I refuse to believe anythign that Tasos says.
They claim to release inside of 2008 so we shall see. But don't take the screenshots to mean THAT will be what the graphics will look like in large battles. If they're scaling the graphics like in well optimised games then they will cut down poly-counts and texture sizes automatically.
We'll see. ![]() |

I voted yes, on a hunch and hope that they do finally pull it off. No, I've seen nothing to really support that belief, but one can hope. "Just because you aren't paying doesn't mean it's not PTW." - Amaranthar |

Using the battle sizer utility, the biggest battles I've played in M&B are 100 vs 100 battles and I still get good frame rates (30-40 fps according to fraps).
Having said that my computer does not suck. People with sucky computers are stuck with playing WoW. ![]() |

The thread in question was locked recently due to a number of posts that shared a user's personal, private information without the users consent. These posts were of course deleted, thus why you probably didn't see them :). The thread may be unlocked in the future, once the air has had some time to clear. We understand and respect the importance of that thread, and thus it was locked and not deleted, but the privacy and security of all of our users is of utmost value. Laura "Taera" Genender |

No offense, the "user" in question admitted in multiple places to having several accounts. The original person the thread fought against (Egomancer) tried to sue MMORPG.com for private information multiple times in order to shut that thread, and other similar threads, down. The new user was a little more slick with his dealings with MMORPG.com, even then Dana Massey saw through the veil and left the thread open for more information to be posted. Even with ads for the new title everywhere, Dana stood fast and allowed the thread to continue.
It's not about "private information" anymore. If they post the information on public websites, it ceases to be private information... it's now about Freedom of Information existing elsewhere. I don't recall my private information (including my address) getting locked on this website when Rapid Reality folded... I'm still here though, under the same handle (as Zorvan will remember)... wiser for the taking. - CaesarsGhost Lead Gameplay and Gameworld Designer for a yet unnamed MMO Title. |

I agree CG. That thread was very highly moderated. The topic, before it got locked, was about how the devs werre harrassing this one person (cannot remember his name). I said "Wow, it's amazing what Google can do these days" and it was deleted. Hell, threads were getting deleted constantly in that thread. Nothing bad was happening. He was telling us of all of the work he had done, sharing information about what had happened, and it got locked. And as you said, it was nothing private anymore. People could have easily founded it out in 5 minutes. NOT only that, but we did not even recieve a warning (within the month before it was locked) to be more careful. It was locked on a knee jerk reaction. Things were much worse when you were around, and after reading through some of the pages, they were hardly comparable to the things that went on near the end (April, March '08). WE should have at least been given a warning, let alone the thread just getting locked. ..no offence, and forgive me if I did sound offensive. __________________________________________________ |

According to Tasos in the june 20th update:- "Things are going well with the game testing and with the publishing activities. There are no serious problems to speak of, and we’re on schedule with our milestones."
Apparently so far the developers themselves at least are still confident Darkfall will release inside 2008. (Assuming of course these milestones are still public beta and release, and that the schedule is still for some time this year.) |

You.. haven't read much about Dark and light right..? Nor you know shite about DF troll. 17years? Try to be exaggerating it more.. like 100years, works much better to smell your irony :-p
Anyhow, IF it's released this yeah, that would be awesome. If not, meh.. Then we are back to last year :p
I don't really care much about darkfall anymore, ive followed it too long to even bother nowadays. But i'll check if it's released this year anyhow.
Im more interested in what blizzard have to announce at saturday :p The speed of the mole and the power of steel is my weapon |
