Yeah, I have gotten that mail too. It is amazing what censorship and spin doctors can do... I would love to see Funcom's propaganda budget (at this point I feel that 'marketing' does not do those people justice).

i got that message to it pissed me off so much that i wanted to send them a message of my thoughts of their so called best mmo lol

This is nothing new really, they have been blatently lying for a while now. You know the devs actually said the game was feature complete back in mid 2007, and was just in the polishing stage? Apparently they define feature complete differently than the rest of the world, as it wasn't even feature complete a year later in 2008.

But really, the only thing you can do is pay with your wallet. Cancel and be done with it.

they were in number 1 spots in sales, thats a fact

the launch was solid, it was delayed by what.. 2/3 hours.. no problems after.. thats a fact

the players in general are positive, IN GENERAL so not in the anti fc hyve that lives on this forum ;)

conclusion: its easy to say its false, but can u prove them wrong? there are players who like the game, personally the casaul gamers like it and the elitist community of mmorpg.com doesnt. i say elitist cause almost everyone is a diehard mmo'er who only expects topnotch games since they dont like any game and are bored and fell for the hype fc created, a hype like every other company would do. (and about the reviews, go to gamerankings.com.. "deleting bad reviews"? if u say deleting posts like "i give aoc a 1/10 cause it sucks" then yes u are right) and in the end just check the stats on xfire, its still in the top 10. if the game sucks so bad why do so many people play it? and its easy to say it sucks when its just released, look at WoW at release, it was the same if not worse. no it didnt had instancing but the game wasnt designed that way. aoc was designed to be instanced, the devs wanted it. and some ppl dont hate instancing.

> Not really.  It looks like at least 500-750K copies have sold in the first month.  That makes it a commercially successful launch.  It is #1 on a lot of sales charts (atm) and again, just having 500K people playing it atm makes it one of the most popular games ever released. (since most fail miserably, the bar is pretty low).  The launch was solid, the game mostly works, the servers work fairly well, (again, all depends on a players tolerance level) and lets face it, some sites have given it amazing (and not that valid) review scores.  And depending on how you look at it, "Great player feedback" could apply to both negative and positive comments, if you define great in terms of how much feedback they've received.  And despite the naysaying, there are still a lot of players in the game.

See, its not really false advertising or lying if in fact, it can viewed as true based on your perspective.  Calling it propaganda or spin is far more accurate in fact, but none of this is false advertising.

Now, sure, the missing features listed on the box, that's false advertising, no doubt about it, but this email here, just some clever spin from people who've shown they are masters of it.

First, I cant concider a launch that flat out lies about features being in the game when they arent a solid launch. Its a false launch. Its a "Our game is only half complete" launch. Not a solid launch. Now had they lifted NDA and let players know what features promiced would be missing at launch, I would give them a pass on this.

As far as forums go you are verry mistaken. There are posts on nearly every forum I have visited trashing AoC. People complaining about the official forums deleing tons of threads about problems people are having. The love/hate is about 50/50 and thats being generouse to the ones that love it

BTW I havent played AoC since beta but may verry well if FC ever fixes the game. It doesnt take away from the flat out lies FC has been doing with AoC though.

Well when you put it that way I guess your right. The only times they flat out lied was BEFORE launch and what was on the box. Other than that is was just decieving propaganda......ya got me there.
