Right, 1Mb DDR2 RAM on a 1650 x 1050 screen.
These are all fairly average, and can run COD4 fine with no problems, and I get a steady FPS of about 25-30 on VG, which isn't great, but shouldn't cause too much hassle... so why am i getting massive hitches? If I upgraded one part, which should it be? ---------------- |

More memory would help significantly, especially if your running Vista (hopefully your using XP). But video card would be a close second. Consider an Nvidia 8800. Good luck and Peace! |

I thought as much, but if my fps is ok, logic tells me it should be playing fine :( but whenever I try put the second one in it beeps single beeps. I've tried multiple things, both ram sticks work, I think it must be the slot.. :( I'll try sell them and buy a 1 x 2gb stick instead. ty ---------------- |

Your video card is far better than the system requeriments, but more ram will probably improve your performance. But to be honest, you will have issues with performance even with a totally new PC, I would wait the next updates of Vanguard, then you will know for sure wich kind of upgrade will be good for you. The game still has a lot of performance issues...

Oh really? I thought my graphics card was fairly old? It wasn't exactly expensive... I know there hasn't been a set date or anything yet, but is there a rough kind of time that the next mini patch or even GU6 will be coming out? I kind of want to buy the game before my trial runs out, but I don't really want to buy it while it runs as it does, because although i can get used to it, when i'm paying i'd prefer a silky smooth, or even cotton smooth performance ;)

Glad to hear you are considering Vanguard. I would start with the simplest, least expensive option first: RAM. Put another stick in there and you should be fine on medium settings. Oh, and the game is stunning on these settings. |

yeahh i put it on full settings, it was really stunning, even the figure was ok! Actually I quite like the figures atm, what am i talking about? =p
but good idea, a simple £30 for a 2gb stick, should be able to sell my old ones for about 20 quid or something. ---------------- |

In reference to your Ram, it may be important that your memory is a matched pair. I typically dont recommend mixing manufactures either. So, to clarify, if your computer came with a certain brand/type, get exactly the same thing. Otherwise, it may be worth avoiding the headaches by just buying a matched pair from the same manufacture (ex: Patriot, ICQ, Corsair.....). Also, before buying memory, check to see what your motherboard supports (ex: DDR266, DDR800, DDR1066....). Hope this helps a bit. Good luck. |
