I voted "no" I do the PvE often but I'm usually trying to figure out ways to AFK everything. I like the PvP it makes the game more exciting for me. Even while hauling items what make jumping through gates interesitng is threat of pvp. If not for the PVP I would sleep zzzZZZzz |

EVE has plenty of PVE options. No way would 0.0 work if people couldn't attack eachother. How the hell would you determine space sovergnty? As long as you pay attention and take precautions EVE has plenty of PVE game in it. By the way, Hello Kitty is down the hall to your left. If you don't want PVP in EVE stay out of low security zones. Stay in a NPC corp. No one can war dec you and Concord (NPC police) will protect you as long as you don't steal from someone or shoot them first. Also people who say yea and say tons would have to change, Lets be realistic. You want them to go backwards design a whole damn universe because your afraid someone might attack you wandering in low security. So what your saying instead of moving the game forward into new fixes and content you want to take those programmers and devs and rip all of eve apart to cater to cearbears when cearbears have plenty of game in EVE already. That just don't make sense, and don't hold your breath for CCP to use manpower for a whole seperate PVE EVE. |

No, as in absolutely no freakin' way. I assuming here by PvE you mean removing player combat? Is that correct? EVE is a pvp game and player combat is an aspect of pvp, an important and integral aspect. However, just about all of EVE involves player competition and interaction, ergo pvp. What would be the point of Eve without the player vs player combat aspect? In EVE I am a player who largely strives to avoid engaging in direct player combat. No.....I am not a "carebear", I spent the majority of my time in low sec and 0.0, I do a lot of exploring there, which I find challenging and amusing. Successfully navigating through those areas is also a form of pvp, as is getting the goods before someone else does. I am able to engage in player combat and do so if there's a good reason. (sometimes it's unavoidable, sometimes I encounter someone so desperately annoying I can blow them up without feeling too bad about it after, sometimes it's good for business in other subtle ways). I trained the skills needed to hold my own in player combat within less then six months of playing, the two years since has been mostly science and industry. EVE, in addition to giving it's players numerous options to cause other players ships to go boom also has the most ruthless player driven economy ever seen in a massively multi-player online game. In my time playing EVE I have cost other players far more hardship, lost isk and angst with my industrial activities then I could ever hope to achieve at the point of a gun. In the end though, all of the non combat pvp I engage in still hinges almost entirely on player combat pvp. I make and sell guns, T2 guns, lots of them. I prefer to sell them to players who will go out and use them on other players, preferably players who aren't me. Best is selling two sets of guns to two players who then proceed to use them on one another. That way I stand a good chance to sell a third set of guns. So, EVE is a pvp game, everyone who plays (and isn't a complete idiot or just plain useless) is a pvp player, even if they rarely, or never, go guns free on another player. |

no, dumb idea. EVE won't work as a PVE game because the economy would never work. There are no NPC items to buy, everything is player made... but without PVP there's no profit in it so nobody would bother. you people need to realize that EVE, as currently engineered, will NOT work as a PVE only game. Not to mention the fact that what *little* PVE there is in EVE is excruciatingly boring. W/O PVP EVE would die. And no, i'm not your typical PVP person. I love EQ2 w/o PVP. Love DDO etc. EVE, however, is just not a game that would do well w/o PVP...
Outta curiosity... why do people keep bringing this up? It's the dumbest, literally, idea ever. Even carebears will come right out and tell you that EVE won't work without PVP. |

Although I don't like pvp as it sits in the vast majority of games now, and rarely ever partake.
Eve would be even more stupidly boring than it already is if there wasn't pvp. This is one of the few games that would not survive without it. Most other MMOs would do just fine without it, actually pretty much all of them would be fine without pvp mainly because pvp isn't used as a control or as "content" in all the other games. It's always added as an afterthought and slapped together with duct tape.
Eve however isn't like that. PvP is used as a control, and it makes for half ass content because everything else in the game is freakin' boring.
So no, pvp must stay. |

There is no such thing as stupid questions, only stupid students. |
I voted yes but would like to add a caveat. I hate PVP, but it certainly is a huge aspect of the game. The game could not survive as PVE only.
What I would like to see is High sec space being safe and low sec a free for all. If you want valuable minerals or want to PVP then head on over to low sec. Want to stay safe and play PVE then stay in .5 or higher. I think this is how the game was intended but has drifted. (just an opinion). Most gankers and pirates will disagree with this post. They feel high sec space should only be 'safer' not safe.
I think they should leave the decision up to the player.
I cancelled my two accounts because I got tired of losing hours of work in high sec space to ore thieves and suicide gankers. I play a game for fun, I go to work for aggravation. A certain amount of aggravation in a game is healthy. EVE has a fine death penalty to its players. But it doesn't allow those who choose a less violent path in the game.
The second problem was macro mining made mining/crafting unprofitable once you took in the thieving and ganking |

The only people I see offering a negative reply are the people that seem to thrive on the PvP element and once again thats fine if thats your thing. No one is saying that you'd have to give up playing full throttle on Tranquility all that is being suggested is that a PvE server be made available for those that abhor PvP. So, try to follow this... a PvE server wouldn't be attractive for you if you are a PvP player conversely a PvP server isn't attractive to the PvE player. Cetainly the elements that drive the market of a PvP server would be absent on a PvE server which would mean there would be other elements that would have to drive that market, you aren't offering anything that is earth shattering here thats already completely obvious. It doesn't mean that things wouldn't work, it just means that things wouldn't work like they do on the PvP server so yes a PvE server should be made available. The unspoken element that the PvP crowd hasn't admitted to is that they are afraid that all of their unwilling targets would leave them with only other PvP players to ply themselves against thats what they are afraid of. |
