I've always been interested in playing LOTR, but none of my other mmo friends play this. I've played WOW, Lineage II, EQ, COH and got bored quick. I recently jumped back on FFXI; and even though I get picked on for that game, I've always loved it. But I'm still interested in LOTR and want to know, if any, the differences in them. Like: do you have to group all the time, does PVP get annoying like WOW, etc. Thanks to all that reply! |

I play both Lotro and FFXI. Soloing is possible in both games, but Lotro is much easier. While in FFXI a death can cost you a level, in Lotro it is no more than a minor inconvenience. I think both games are excellent, but FFXI is definately more 'hardcore', both for grouping and for soloing. I haven't PVP'd much so I won't comment on that.

| When the tyrant has disposed of foreign enemies by conquest or treaty, and there is nothing to fear from them, then he is always stirring up some war or other in order that the people may require a leader. |

thanks for the reply btw. My only real complaint with FF is the wait for a group. As for LOTR the only other question is what this game will be after warhammer comes out. I know they might be two totally different games... |

I do hope you will try the game becuse of the wonderfull community (eu) and how well you can adept your play from causal to hardcore. And if you have enjoyed the books (and maybe even the movies) you will find the "epic" quests alot of fun. And I do believe that War wont change lotro population to much becuse of how diffrent the games seem to be and also when war will (hopefully) be out then the first lotro expansion will hit the box. |

This is true. I don't think anyone goes to LOTRO for the pvp. It won't be affected. |

After AOC came out I didn't see much change in population at all. If anything I think it may have gone up. Warhammer will be the same thing with LOTRO. A few will leave but those will be replaced by people who return from trying WAR and will probably pick up some extras that were thinking about LOTRO. AOC and WAR are completely different styles from LOTRO. |

It seemed like pops on my server went up around the launch of AoC as well. Didn't even really affect the 'moors, and I thought for sure a lot of those guys would be leaving for it. Go figure. |
