Frankly I hope not. First of all Gameguard is an utter failure in terms of keeping botters away. The only thing it does is prevent people form using gaming pads like the Nos 52, Ideazon Fang and gaming keyboards like the G15/G11 keyboard from Logitech. Gameguard has done nothing to stop botting in L2. The best course of action is to not put any large emphasis on gold/money drops in the game along with removing the pointless repetitive grinds seen in games like L2 which has fostered the creation of such a large botting/farming community.

Games I've played:
AoC, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, LoTRO, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars, Star Wars Galaxies, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H.

Games I Am Currently Playing:

EVE Online

I sure hope not.

GameGuard is the biggest failure in security i've ever seen, and hey, it even manages to create conflicts with every piece of legitimate software and hardware of your computer!

blergh!

AionSource.com

The Aion client used GG in CBT1 and CBT2. Probably will in CBT3 and release. Although I love Aion, I hate GG and think it's shit too. But it won't stop me from playing the game. NCsoft isn't going to rely on GG to stop botting, they're going to take a much more active role in killing bots in Aion compared to L2 regardless.

From all the things I''ve lost I miss my mind the most.

Bots wont be much of a problem like in Lineage 2.

With Lineage 2 the source code of the game was stolen before release and it spreaded. Thats why it was so easy to make very complex BOT software for it and we saw all the train botting, private servers and all the bad things.

Im not even worried about Aion.

what's the point of even putting in game guard. That thing is useless. WoW did fine without it, and almost every other non korean game that don't use it does alright. Not like games that use game guard actually have less bots anyway.

are you guys sure that gameguard is made to stop bots? One would think no game would ever use it again if it was its sole purpose.

The internet is serious business.

I always thought it was protection from keyloggers TBH.

Guys, gameguard is not there to "stop bots" per se.

It is just a deterent for certain 3rd party software as well as to make it so that the choices for creating methods of interfacing with the client narrowed.

I do believe wow used a similar type of software though I don't know if it is there own creating or from a another company.

I seem to remember a thread on this site talking about it.
