Most amazing MMO to hit the markets. I love it with all its pros and cons. It is a much better game with expansions, but to play the classic for free is almost unbelievable. Tops any other free games. It just gets better and better.

EDIT: it is a very complex game, but once you start to learn things, you feel like you're part of the community.

Witty quotes are the Sanitary Engineers of the Comic World.

Couldn't vote because my category wasn't in your poll (your pre-emptive apology is accepted though ):

Love the game and my old friends in it, but don't like the way the company treats its customers.

I think AO has some good and some bad points.

The bad points:

-Even on higher end computers the game can run poorly

-people in-game are XP and damage obsessed.

-Excessive grinding(tokenboard, AXP, Research)

-Alot of downtime (equiping items/making money/camping monsters).

-Class inbalances that dont get adressed  reasonably fast.

-sometimes hard to get a team.

The good points:

-I like the classes(especially crat, nt, enforcer,mp and trader)

-Building a character really requires research  and calculation

-Twinking, something where AO really shines imo.

-Shadowlands look great.

-Mature community(mostly anyway)

-No elves.

Imo its overall a good game however some points really need to be addressed(notably the client)

AO had little demand on computer resource.  I played on a Dell laptop Pentium II with dial-up in 2005.  You can turn off visual effect, detail, distance view to reduce lags.

I hate grinding so I skipped a lot of quests if I can buy an equivalent item to replace the quest reward item.  Tokens can be bought, instead of grinding.

I hate camping and came up with tricks to aliviate the effort in camping.

And yes, sometime it's hard to find team.  That's why I found a huge org.  It is a big advantage to be in a huge org.  Unfortunately, atm most of the players in my org are froobs.  Since we are still relatively new, we don't have many paid accounts yet.

Love this game! Great Gameplay.

Terrible learning curve and high player turnover leads to weak community.

I agree with you.  It is a terrible learning curve, leads to high turn over, leads to weak community.

That's why I found a charity guild to fix this problem.  We are now big, active, and helpful to new players.   We have reduced the turn over.  Thus we was able to build a strong community inside my  guild.

I've seen many people brought spouse, family members, relatives, friends in rl and in games over to my guild.  We had a 1-month low-level player that joined our guild recently.  She then brought over her husband, a max-level 220, general from another guild to our guild.

Community gives more than a good gaming experience.  It's like your virtual family here.

As I said before, this game is very hard and filtering out certain kind of people.  Those that decide to stay with the game are generally are more of my liking.   Note this, conversely, those that don't like this game could be cool folks too.  I am only after the ones that survived this difficulty filter.

Currenlty Playing: AO (might try WoW again)... where is the new "hot" sci-fi game?

I love this game and have been playing it for over 2 years now. There is no other mmo out there now like it. Plus, I prefer sci-fi over fantasy. To stay fresh, I take 2-4 months breaks from game.
