Never really tried WoW, but I've tried a number of different games...and nothing seems to catch my interest.

And then there is WoW, a game that has been out for a very long time now, and has a huge fanbase. Apparently, the game is very polished and "finished"...atleast moreso than Vanguard.

But it seems very late to jump into this game, are my worries ill-founded?

Not at all! If you try and join a highly populated server some of the tards may call you a "nubz" or something equally stupid. If you join a medium or low pop server, you'll be fine.

It will never be too late to start playing WoW. Leveling is pretty quick, especially once you get the hang of where everything is. Every mob is pretty much tank-n-spank. Once you hit max level, you can pvp for "welfare epix" which is on par with tier 5 raiding gear, and it doesn't take but a few weeks to get a full set. My advice is roll a warrior. They are the most needed in raids for tanking, and you can respec your talents for dps anytime you wish to solo or pvp and you will hit like a truck.

Coming from a guy that had a 70 Warlock, 70 Priest, 70 Mage, 70 Druid, and a 70 Hunter, I wish I would have rolled a warrior to begin with. Especially when it comes to pvp.

Playing - D2, Entropia
Waiting for - Earthrise, WAR

My advice is roll a paladin or druid.

End game: choose your playing styles: healer or tank.

With the new epics system in BG's and arena you can have good gear for all specs.

Together with the highly rewarded daily quests (12 gold each quest) you can respec easely. Justbthe cost of doing 4 daily quests !

Be a full tank (protection) a full healer or a full DPS kind of warrior with JUST ONE character and if you like doing PvP in BG's : it is a breeze to gather the gear.

Every group needs healers or tanks, and you can fulfill them both plus being a DPS guy if you wish.

Druids have the advantage of being TOP in arena's also, while Paladins are the number ones in Karazahn as tanks, healer AND dps(patch 2.3)  these days.

The wise man seeks wisdom. The fool claims it.

It's not too late, but the question is, why would you want to? Just play Shadowbane. It's free and has the best pvp of any mmo made so far.

It is not too late. I just started playing WoW after a 1.5 year break and I love it. If you want help leveling I can recommend a couple of mods- Cartographer and Questhelper.

WoW is still a great game. I guess it doesn´t suit everyone but just look at the amount of players that play or have played WoW and that should tell you something...

Happy leveling!

Game hopping since 2003.

It's not too late.

The new expansion is coming out at christmas introducing a new class but you need to be lvl 55 to unlock the class. People are constantly re-rolling.

Try a couple of different classes before you commit to one. Druid is the most flexible (Tank/DPS/Healer) but is not the best at either so its a good place to start but sub lvl 20 the lvling can be really unenjoyable.

The most enjoyable class by far is a rogue, it has so many I-win buttons at the moment you will hit 70 in a matter of weeks if you're hard core.

Also, get questhelper before you even play. Its a mod that helps you with every quest.

My new years resolution: Stop pre-ordering vapoware.

Fire is never a gentle master

I started WoW a year ago - it's never too late to start with a great MMORPG like this. New people constantly join the ranks of the WoW community, so you may aswell be one of them. I expect a lot of the veterans to return when WotLK is live.

Like everyone says, its never to late to jump into this game! I think they made it even easier to level now, as if it wasn't easy enough before! The Hunter class is still "easy" mode. Rogues can level up pretty quick to. Anything with lots of DPS will level up quick. Get the bundle pack that comes with Burning Crusade, might be easier to pick one of the new races, Draenei (alliance) or the Blood Elf (horde) since the quest reward for those starting areas is much better than the other races. Also Hunters, Warlocks and Rogues are still the preferred pvp classes. But I don't pvp much so I'm not sure if much has changed. You have lots of different types of servers to choose from. World of Warcraft has its own Wiki page to if you want to look anything up about the game.
