At about the 22nd minute in the RvR presentation from the Paris Games Day '08. Jeff released that when you capture a guilds banner you can take it to a keep your realm controls and tack it to the wall. For the guild to use that banner again they have to go take it back from that keep. Jeff revealed that there is 1 scenario in tier 1, 2 in tier 2, 2 in tier 3, 4 in tier 4 (1 in each home front zone, and 2 in the central contested zone). You can get into the queue of a scenario by either going to the physical location of it, or entering the queue thru a button on the minimap. Zone influence affects how many guards and siege pads will be at a keep. Also in that presentation he mentioned they are currently looking at time frame of 12-18 hrs fro the attacking faction to have free reign in the city after fully capturing it. Some other good info in there as well.
In a Capital City presentation with Josh, some other information is stated. Capital have a calender that certain events will happen in them. Sort of like Winter Veil and such in WoW, but they don't require the servers to be brought down. When the time triggers the event starts to happen. Calender events could be time of day, weekly, monthly, or yearly based. The blackmarket town that takes the place of capital when you have lost it has the main things needed, trainers, vault, vendor and auction house. But everything costs more. Realm Pride buff. If your capital is thriving members of that faction will get a realm pride buff that increases EXP and such. If you are having difficulty taking back the capital after a while (12-18 hrs) you will start getting help from the system. One way is a buff gets applied to you when in the tier 4 area, making you stronger. **I editited this post since initial entry |

ok just realized this was before the last pod-casts, but still has some previously un-talked about info. Also in this Jeff Q/A he talks about how city captures are instanced, armor set progression, king captures and some other info. Points from that last video for those that don't want to watch. After the gate is broken down to the capital. There are essentially 2 sections to a city. The main section that has the king quarters, and the 2 main PQs., and the "war-quarter" where the statues of highest ranked characters are erected. This section with the statues is the part that gets instanced (splits off new version to accommodate numbers), it is currently set for 75v75. Whomever wins the majority of the instances "wins" the capital. If it is the attackers, the outer gate closes are new defenders can not come into the city. The inner gate opens for the pillage/PQ/King parts. This is currently set to about 12-18 hrs of free reign. There can still be players in the non instanced pillage area. That can slow down your advance thru that part, but it is non instanced, and when they die they can not get back into the city. Kings are the hardest encoutners in the game. Designed for 24 people (4 groups). Kings are beaten, captured, dragged to opposing city, put in stockade/cage, etc.. They are not killed. Your realm gets a buff for aslong as you ahve a king captured. Kings have to be taken back by players. (king can be beaten more then once, but only captured once for the buff) And I can't remember the rest cause it took me to long to type all that out :D |

I was wondering how they were going to handle "killing" the king. Thats a rather neat way of doing it. Much better than the "oh we killed the King" and there the king sits five minutes later as if nothing happened. Warhammer sounds less and less static. |

I agree with your assessment. It is a far superior way of handling it. |

Actually he reappears. When he's initially beat for the first time during that Siege I'm guessing thats when he appears in your city (not all together sure about the appearing your city part but the other part IS fully explained on warhammer alliance.com by one of the Dev's in a forum thread) Anyone and everyone can continuously try to beat him..Once you beat him you are locked out of the King Encounter Until the Next time your side takes that city. They're going for the 'fair' everyone should get to do it route. They have it set up whre you can't beat him multiple times in a single siege but the whole Realm gets a try to kill him. He's supposed to be crazy crazy crazy hard to beat. I know some of you want the elite awsome status of being the only ones that round but...thats not what they're going for...it'd be impossible for everyone to get the chance if he was a one shot mob. The WAR devs are pretty dead set on yes having things that definitly make you stand apart...like killing the king is a pretty big task but they don't want anyone left out from being able to try. This theme is all through out the game with the PQ system where EVERYONE gets a shot at something nice, Keeps where Everyone can show up to defend or attack regardless of guilds, The Capital Siege where anyone can show up and attack or defend regardless of status. It carries right on into Dungeons even the King Encounter. Only those that really work hard and have good plans will totally succeed at everything but everyone gets to try and hopefully through that everyone gets to improve their skills too. I"m betting we'll see plenty of starter guilds simply in existance for 'teaching' or helping people build their skills up even EvE has guilds that do this. |

Now that is nice...being locked out of the Boss fights after 1 win! Keeps the hardcore from having full sets of the best gear in the first siege! This way everyone is on the same playing field and has the same opportunity to get at least 1 good item each time the city siege takes place! |
