Greetings all,

Yes I know all about the game and what most consider the greatest failure of an MMORPG in history. I was not around when people were anticipating this game to knock off the big MMORPGs off their perches; the excitement and the total let down. Sure and why not? Most of the ingame graphics shown during beta and beyond must have shown a game with so much potential. Even myself, I was fascinated by this game's graphics, or better put the terrain. I've even downloaded the game as the graphics looked amazing...I didn't care about the rest.

Fortunately being one of the lucky ones to be able to download and run the game fine, I tried the off line game engine for the first time.

I had all the graphics on full, including my NVidia graphics card and what I saw when I first entered the game world nearly made me cry. Honestly, I had to think at the time, why a game with such beautiful terrain had to turn out to be so crap, laggy and awkward to control anything. Have I regretted downloading this game? No, absolutely 100% not. If you've managed to see what the terrain in this game is like, it's just so amazing. I can't even believe reviews have given low for graphics. The graphics are so real, so beautiful, so mesmerizing yet sadly I realise that it doesn't play well.

If someone could polish up all the bugs, take away the problems with having to use older graphic card drivers, make the actual character models better and more responsive, add more quests, basically make most things like other fun played MMORPGs, this game would draw back people into this game.

......Sadly, I don't know if this would happen but then I think isn't there someone that could do it?

I really do hope......simply because I have never felt such freedom and awestruck flying a hanglider across a vast blue ocean with clouds trailing behind and the snow capped mountains fading into the sunset.

That background and terrain you see is the product of one man, _Pix_! DNL (Farland/NPC) have attempted to steal the tech involved in making that and have claimed ownership of it. _Pix_ in turn has sued them for various illegalities and has so far WON his cases against them.

***btw --- DNL accuses _Pix_ of being responsible for the rest of the game performance, content, server instability and anything else that is wrong with the game -- when in fact, the only thing he IS responsible for is the ONLY GOOD THING about the game, the environment.

Yes I know all this and I see your point completely.....my thinking now is that someone can do something about the actual game elements now to create a more working and polished MMORPG. I mean, the graphics (terrain/environment) are a strong point, they would certainly not be outdated by an means if someone was to pick up this game, bring it under their wing and carry it to a working product.

I for one would play this game. One must still look beyond the grey fog to see the light that this game, if worked on, can be revived.

The questions lies would someone want to?

Hello, did you read the previous post? The amazing terrain has nothing to do with the criminal devs of this POS. The guy responsible has taken them to court over the use of his technology in their "game".  No investor  would  touch this train wreck with a 10 foot pole....

Thats like asking a cop to go help sell cocaine so that it might look like its not illegal ? Regardless of the outcome he will still be tainted.

Seriously your either completely ovlivious to the facts surrounding this game or you are brand new to MMOs. If you want a FTP game thats not complete garbage go try Perfect World Or Mabinogi. At least then you wont get a virus and have to spend months trying to get the owners of DnL to stop billing you.

Every compliment I hear about DnL is actually a compliment to VWorld - what NP3 bolted on top is the worst example of an MMO I have ever seen.

It's not just the game, it's the company that runs it.  Right now for example, the servers have been down for 5 days and nobody has a clue why.  There is no support, users with ATI cards can't play the game and there hasn't been a patch for a year.

Thousands of people were billed repeatedly when they had cancelled their account, 8881 people were conned out of their money and never received what was promised (map!), oh yeah and then the devs made the game free to play.

On top of the horrible class imbalance, "super" weapons that only a few players have and the many, many exploits, I'm amazed by this game as well.

I think what the OP is trying to say, is that he wishes the VWorld  could be used in a LEGITIMATE mmorpg.   He is expressing his appreciation for the virtual world, and at the same time his disappointment in the realization that this virtual world is not being used in a current, legitimate mmog.

i'm amazed a company can charge you $60 on your credit card, a year after you stop playing and not end up in jail.

This game was very addicting and fun! Except with all the bugs and stuff, but i had hope of thwem fixxing them, but none. So i quit and i only played the game for two months, now i want to come bck, it was sooo much fun..better then any other game i played, except NeoSteam

Why are so many naive non educated people cutting this guy up and the game?

Vworld has NOTHING to do with building the terrain or how it looks,what the heck are you guys talking about?Somebody or many people have to build the textures,they have to build skyboxes,they have to make the meshes you see,the trees,mountains/water.Vworld has NOTHING to do with any of that,there's is merely a technology that allows you to move along sort of seamless,and has to do with how you can foresee objects in the game.

IMO that technology is nothing to brag about because unless they are total magicians ,the only way to achieve that is by rendering.If a game has very  little as far as poly count goes,then it could by intent allow the player to see at a very far distance and not feel graphic lag,it all matters not ,if the OP says it looks great to him,great to see he is happy with that.

OH and BTW VWORLD DOES have to do with performance as that is the role there tech plays in the game,that is of course if the game really is using stolen tech[i have no clue].You guys are all messed up in your deliberance towards who does what and who is responsible for what in the game.

Personally i have never played the game,because i don't trust foreign companies or companies i have never heard of.I just don't like blame thrown to places it doesn't belong.I was just curious as to the present day state of this game as it has been awhile since i read anything about it.I here the servers are down so it's probably done for i guess.

Perhaps you might want to take a look at the VWorld site ( it's linked in Chos' post which you quoted ). Everything as far as terrain ( meaning trees, water, rocks, sky, mountains, etc ) is done by the VWorld engine. It's a world simulator, not just a game engine.

Perhaps you should learn about what the tech in question actually does before commenting how you know so much more than us "naive non educated people".

Good game. Just needs more veteran Devs and proper funding.

( It's the only game that one can fly above the clouds to see the magnificent view of Ganareth. I love it )
