The game treats PvP kills like PvE kills, so its like grinding mobs except they are generally smarter and tricker to kill so I am assuming they will be worth more exp and loot. (Its easy to rip through 5 mobs which are a little lower level than you, than 5 grouped players) |

Behold! Rash of the Itch King comes in November! Quake in fear! |
Originally posted by Joliust Wow, I didn't know that yet. That's smart...you can still loot in PvP, which makes sense, but you don't necessarily loot the person you killed. You don't take his items that he worked hard for, so he doesn't complain...you get loot, exp and money so you don't complain... Why didn't anyone think of this before!? |

We all come to the end of our lives naked as on the day we were born. We can’t take anything with us |
that sounds good to me.......
Finally a challenge worthy of my effort. I don't care if grinding mobs is faster exp. I would rather have the glory and prestige of counting every one of my kills as living opponents who fell before my hammer.
prepare yourselves....

The reason it was not implemented before is because the average person really isnt all that bright and has a tendency to copy the ideas of something else. Its a classic case of "monkey see monkey do". The world of online gaming is no different. Game designers study what has happened before and simply copy and tweak it and then release it as a "new game". Its a safer way to make money because even though an idea may be total crap, its what people have become used to and therefore its what they will expect. Thats why the majority of online gamers only think in terms of exp, levels, PvP, PvE, phat loot, dungeons, instances, raiding, bosses etc etc etc. To do something new would mean that all of those mmo monkeys would have their brains fried and they would start chittering and gibbering in a panic. "Oh whats this?! I've never seen this idea before! This is new! What do I do?! Somebody help me!!" and then they would abandon the new concept and scamper back to the old one where they feel comfortable. Actually I have no doubt that there are LOTS of people out there with brilliant ideas for games. Its just that implementing them means risking money and who wants to do that? Thats basicly why all mmos are essentially still pretty crappy games. They are in their infancy though and are gradually improving. Basicly its just one of the downsides of being a member of the human race. You have to wait for "the masses" to slowly catch on. |

Neonwire:+1 i totally agree with your views, sometimes i am also thinking how people can have so low standards in the games they play(the gameplay difference between single player games and mmo is huge right now).Hopefully there will be evolution in this genre, maybe some game companies with a good single player game history(which are going to be involved with the creation of a mmo) will dare to introduce something new to the genre(maybe bethesda or bioware who knows?). On to the topic now, yeah pvp looting wont be there except in the form that was mentioned above. |

I would NOT hold your breath for PVP looting in WAR. The devs clearly state they don't like loss. "We are focusing on fun and getting the characters right back in the action" Go watch the latest G4 interview then realize player looting is NOT going to happen in WAR. You want player loot, EVE is your one stop shop. No other popular MMO has the balls currently to player loot, o wait except POSSIBLY AOC with their new "fugative" system. I hate to say it, but WAR visually and attutude wise is WOW 2.0 with relm vs relm. Shame because I really WANT to like WAR. I was a player of their tabletop Warhammer for years. |

PvP looting is like Permadeath. One of those 'great' ideas that people love to bring out on forums and complain that MMOs should have more mechanics like that. Except those kind of hardcore mechanics only appeal to tiny fraction of the MMO market and any designer idiotic enough to implement them into a multi-million dollar MMO would lose their shirt. The same people enamored with these mechanics would be the first ones to complain the first time they got ganked or lost their epic gear thanks to a lag spike that got them killed.
