I feel like such a tool falling for something so ridiculous... but...

Anyone else think it's working that all MMORPG ads entice's you to download and play their game because they have a pretty cartoon female warrior/ninja/healer/witch in their ad? You know the ones with the tight waist, nice legs, pretty face, big, soft looking boobs, all being covered with full body armor but exposes the neck, above the chest, the thighs, you know, places that would make a guy go crazy..

Was wondering if this dirty(but valid and legal) advertisement move has worked on some people.

It doesn't entice me because most of those types are appealing to a younger crowd and i'm an older gamer....and the artwork is fairly generic.

I tried Rappelz briefly because of the potential for a free MMO with quality graphics and gameplay in a high-fantasy setting, and not because of the two skimpily clad goddesses in the advertisements, with bodies that would make Frazetta blush.

Yea, but its the same tactic thats used to make you go see a movie, walk into the department store or , heck, even go into McDonalds

I tend not to get heated over graphic tatties plus like an above poster stated "Im an older gamer" these types of things have been seen over and over and over again. Mainly targeted twords kids and nerds with no gf's that live in their moms basement.

Dude, get some viagra. I'm an older gamer and I still like pictures of pretty girls, geez. Are you older than Larry King? Even he had a baby not to long ago. What, are you like 105 years old?

Anyways, pretty girls on the ads don't hurt, but I don't think anyone that's played an MMORPG before is going to buy an MMORPG just based on the cover art.

In all honesty, it is more appealing than seeing someone who looks like they've been poured into a suit of armor, like some kind of sausage in a can.

But, it really doesn't matter. If the game looks fun, it looks fun. Advertising doesn't do a whole lot from me, I tend to shut it out as it's usually just an annoyance. If I want a product, I'll go looking for it.

One of the great things about older RPG games was that the 2D characters were they didn't have much in terms of sex appeal.  It was fun in UO to dress up your character and give them haircuts, but they jut looked like a cartoon character.  Just another reason I'm not a big fan of realistic graphics. 

Sorry Gill but cartoons don't appeal to me all that much!..tthe op said cartoons not pictures..If they turn you on get a live woman..geeezzz

You're just observing that advertising is mostly about using sex to sell some product.

This isn't new by any stretch of the imagination.

Just look at the AXE grooming products...they're basically a rerun of the Hai Karate ad campaign of the 60's!
