No matter WHO you are, in Jumpgate you got a place, all you gotta do is create it!

Ditto, AA is gone and buried. JGE is here and less than a year now? Maybe?

AA would have been fine if it were marketed like Guild Wars. $15/month for the game just didnt seem right at all.

I do though belive a company can learn from mistake and make very sucesfull game.

Look at turbine

DDO was a major failure <> LOTRO a major succes

people seem to have forgotten Asheron's Call 2    - probably the biggest failure of all time.

Vanguard is a massive success against that... even DDO is

On other hand old Jumpgate players swear by its awesome flight engine.

I just hope NetDevil really learned their lesson from Autoassault...

I can vouch for the awesome flight engine

And yes, they did learn their lessons from auto assault :-)

remains to be seen. if this is the same team who handled auto assault don't expect much.

Or if this is simply a revamped JG (whcih I don't think it will be), don't expect big numbers. JG is/was an awesome game but it's not for everyone. In order to draw in more numbers, there needs to be more diversity. I for one agree with the comment about EnB's craft system. That was frustrating as hell but I always had something to do  I haven't seen a system like that since. Fun times.

I wouldn't say gone and buried. I saw a couple copies for sale at Circuit City a few weeks ago down in Va.. At full price no less.lol I asked the clerk about it. He told me it was a great game and still played often!!

I was in the AA beta, and it didn't do it for me. Too many bugs, and lack of real community was my major complaint as I recall.

I am looking forward to JGE. I love space/sci-fi games.

Why i thought it was crap, was because they had just created a normal MMO, with wizards, warriors etc, just with cars. So stupid. The only difference was actually that you could drive while doing your spells.

I early in beta suggested that they should make the skills more fitting to a CAR combat game, with skills that augmented your car some ways and skills for combat like making ramming damage higher, add armor, add speed etc...

And all the stupid things you could put on your car. Why not have things that actually made sense, like the engines actually makes your car go FASTER(!) things like that...

Anyways, i don't draw parallels from that to my thoughts of JGE. This time they actually have a great game,  which they're making prettier, more accessible and add a nice host of additions. Additionally, they know what makes JG great, and know what is needed to make it reach a bigger audience, atleast it seems so.

I loved AA. Matter of fact I loved it so much I made a video ( which got posted on Netdevils home page).

video.google.com/videoplay

However, I was well aware of the key problems. I had a mutant shaman ( yeah, I know lol) named Komm. Basically, my faction was a key problem. At PEAK hours, we had about 20 players online while the 2 other sides had about 900 combined. The mutant starter areas were horrible, they didn't start to shine until around level 30 or so.

Basically AA failed because of a few key reasons which were never really appealed to.

1.) ADVERTISING

2.) Faction tweaks, made it completely imbalanced.

3.) Pretty uninvolved gameplay and masses of meaningless mobs( run over mobs, get exp, wash repeat). If it felt more like twisted metal and they toned down the mob populations it would've done much better.

I agree with this except that I don't go so far as to say that made it crap.   I liked AA and thought it was fun.  But the RPG parts were kind of disappointing.
