game is going well on the atlantean server (not sure about hte others) there are plenty of people all over the place, i didnt play during anarchy's hayday but as far as i can tell its well populated things are being updated regularly as far as game patches look forward to a brand new game engin comming soon (not sure when though) its a fun game if you dont mind a complicated game, hopefully the new engin will fix the "made in the 90's" graphics, the video of the new engin sure makes it look like it will. from what i can tell this game is far from death, unless they scrap the new engin, which i doubt they will |

Well it's a small game compared to giants like wow but the population seems fairly steady on rimor the server i play on, the game world with expansions is rather large so at times it might look deserted but places like Borealis (neutral town) tend to be rather busy. As for having expansions or not, yes they will make a huge difference but that does not mean you can't have fun in the game without them, of course it depends on your playstyle, if you plan on solo a lot you can do so easily since missions can be set to the difficulty level of your choosing, having the expansions might let you solo tougher stuff (higher level), as for pvp i can only speculate since i never do any but not having the expansions would make a rather big difference i could imagine. To me i could not stand playing ao without expansions now that i'm used to the benefits, but it sure gives you a nice trial period if you like to test the game |

there is still plenty of stuff to do as a free player...although you wont stand even a slight chance against paying players in duels or other pvp you will be missing out on a lot of very fun things to do but...for your first time playing...go free for a while, at least untill you understand the game a little
oh an the atlantean server is very populated... |

Game is going to hell. The development staff is getting sent to work on new games. There is no customer support what so ever. If you have a problem and need to contact funcom or a gm wait time varies from weeks to the end of time. We had no chat in game for over 18 hours the other week. Age of Conan is funcoms gem now ao is going to get screwed even more in the coming months. Here is a sample of the misery funcom gives its customers. Problems like this are common occurence in ao. forums.anarchy-online.com/showthread.php |

Nostalgia is bad. |
Well, you could link to posts like that on any games forum. I've just started playing AO and so far it has less grumbling in the chat than any MMO I've played. So I can't believe there is that much dissatisfaction. I only wish I'd stuck with the game a couple of years ago when I first tried it. You'll have to play it a few hours to really get into it, but once you do, it's great! Surprisingly there are plenty of people around the froob areas too. I get asked to group all the time. Grouping has helped me up the steep learning curve too. In a nutshell, give AO a go! |
