looking at the camelot herald right now, it is 4:34pm Pacific...there are roughly 3077 players total... that kind of scares me, 1000+ of those players are on the classic cluster.... 3 realms per server... so lets just say 333 people per realm...thats not alot :( i was going to play the trial until i saw this... is this just because its the middle of the week or is this an everyday thing? if this is an everyday thing, why is that? this game was amazing back in its time, and i think if they did a little marketing they could have mass people... everyone is tired of easy games, and i remember how the RvR was (that alone would draw in so many people!) i think the main downfall of daoc is the lack of advertising, alot of the people who play mmos now are coming into the genre with games like WoW, AoC, DDO...they dont know what they r missing! |

This is the main reason I won't play this game, no one's there to group with or talk too on the normal servers theres only a couple of hundred sometimes less people playing. If they could get people back I think I would play this again. |

I don't believe that count on Camelot Herald is accurate. I just started playing again until WAR's open beta starts and when you are at the server select screen there is another population count. When I was there last night it was over 20,000. One of these two has to be wrong. From what I can tell the Camelot Herald number appears way to low when you compare to what you see in the game. Population isn't as low as it seems but that could also be because Dark Age of Camelot's world isn't as huge as other games. Yes you could go out in the middle of nowhere and not see anyone but in in major towns or villages, at least on the Hib side on the Classic cluster you still see people running around. You see most people in the Frontiers though or in the battlegrounds. Due to task dungeons you don't see as many people out in the field hunting but you see them and groups running back and forth to get task. This is because that is the quickest way to level up and get money other then hunting monsters in the battlegrounds. People is low and really not what it used to that's for sure. Though it isn't dead as people like to claim. The same areas that were empty when the game started are still dead though. That aspect hasn't changed. Some areas just were never that interesting to hunt in or to much of a pain to travel to unless you want to simply travel, explore, and hunt. Which is nice from time to time but requires to much time. Alb though seems to have the highest population on Classic from what I was told. Not sure how the normal servers are like though. It's hard to get a true feel for the games population due to the Realm setup and if you don't go to the frontiers. |

I have played DAOC for 5 years. i left it about 6 months ago.(my wife still plays) Why has the game declined ro almost nothingness? In my opinion its three primary reasons......poor Mythic management decisions on game expansions nearly destroyed the game...compound this with endless class changes that constantly alienated the player base......add in other game alternatives...and you end up on life support like DAOC.
I was on classic cluster today. There were about 350 albs playing this afternoon. |

I think if they had game cards alot more people would play with a credit card or sending a money order being only way you can pay for it lot's of people don't own credit cards and most prefer game cards |

Don''t Panic!!!! |
Like many older MMO's DAoC suffers simply because its been kicked to the curb in favor of other projects. No marketing, no players...simple as that. |

Is it that bad? I would like to come back to the game, but don't feel like buying the expansions and so on, if there is no one around. |
