A couple of days ago, I got the distinct feeling that the game was hemorrhaging players on a very high level... so many people from guilds I had chars in never logged in any more and the zones seem much emptier than at beginning....
does anyone else had same experience?

When I stopped playing our guild had about 120 members total and never more then 5 people online, from talking to other people (in other guilds) this seemed to be general trend. Is it an absolute truth on all servers? I do not know, this is just my experience.

i havent really noticed a mass exodus. in fact my guild like many others have gotten bigger with more than double being on at any given time. we arent a huge guild but there are quite a few people on. and now with regional chat e.g. aquilionia, cimmeria and stygia etc you can see more people chatting, relating, trading , lfg's etc than you have before. 3.4ghz Phenom II X4 965, 8GB PC12800 DDR3 GSKILL, EVGA 285 GTX 1GB, 640GB HD SATA II, BFG 1000WATT PSU. MSI NF980-G65 TRI-SLI MOBO. |

May just be that people started guilds like crazy in the beginning and when people left they split up and joined an active guild... |

A bunch of my old friends and myself went nuts over the game the first week of release. After two weeks most of us went back to LoTRO and EvE and some are even retrying EQII. |

Eh, you really cant judge based on the growth of guilds. You have to take unique players into consideration, how many alts there are in the guild, how other guilds on the server are fluctuating, etc. Your guild may be gaining new members at a rapid pace, but that may be due to other guilds collapsing, the amount of people still within thier 30 days, how much your guild has progressed into building its town, etc. In about 2 months you will see that even though your guild has 100+ members less and less people log on. You might get new members, but they could be from guilds that pretty much vanished or didnt progress far enough or fast enough for the members who in turn bailed out in search of greener pastures. I see AoC holding steady at 350k subs at peak, which isnt bad at all. I dont see AoC doing too well on 360 though. People will buy it, it may sell well, but most console gamers right now wont be willing to pay a $15 monthly fee seeing as many of them complain about paying $50/year for the XBL Gold service as it is. |

Aye. Thing is they are pretty limited in thier options. If they make it cheaper for 360 subs, PC people will be quite upset and they will see a potential loss. |

That's the thing though. Final fantasy 11 was supposed to have the same problem but it eventually worked out. FFXI even still has a healthy population. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

Aye, it has a healthy population made up mostly of jap PS2 players and US PC players. Its also a Final Fantasy game. The PC subs in the US for FFXI far outweigh the PS2/360 subs in the US which is what we are getting at. AoC will sell a few copies on the 360, theres no doubt there. The fact that most 360 owners have an issue paying $50 a year for the Gold subscription is an indicator they most likely wont be too willing to pay $180/year for a game subscription. As for healthy population, 250k players is a healthy population and can keep a game running for a long time. |

I have noticed no real change either way. I run into players every 50 feet outside cities from all levels. I have to wonder about the mental health of people who spend 2-3 years getting excited and talking about every god damned aspect of a game only to play it a week or two, decide they "hate" it, then spend every day talking about how much they hate it. Me Personally? I knew about AoC for 2 years. I was very hopeful, but cautious enough to stay away from forums until the last month or so before release. I took things slow, bought the game 3 days after release, and played to "play", not to level. I am currently level 32, and having a hell of a good time. So far I have ran into no customer service issues, no bugs worth mentioning, and no missing content. Sure, the higher levels are supposed to be lacking quests, but by the time I reach them I figure they'll patch the stuff in. Also, by the time I get that high they will have patched in Seige Warfare. My first MMORPG, UO, had no Quests. We learned how to make our own fun. Also, if I wanted End Game Dungeon Crawling I would have stuck with WoW. I wanted end game PvP Seige Warfare. Oh, and I have had my fair share of games that I looked forward to for quite a long time only to dislike it and be disappointed with it. You know what I didn't do?
I DIDN'T BITCH ABOUT IT EVERY MFing DAY IN AN ATTEMPT TO TALK MORE PEOPLE OUT OF PLAYING IT TO SPOIL IT FOR THOSE WHO REALLY DID LIKE IT.

All I can say is that White Sands and Underhalls are as crowded as ever as of last night. Indicatiing new players and/or new players playing alts as I was. I have not witnessed any ghost towns. I would expect areas to get less crowded as the initial rush of players spread out through the world. I mean you get everyone starting in Tortage, but then you go to your home city. 3 home cities would seem to indicate that you would see one third of the people that you saw at the start of the game. And I have never seen a huge number of people in Tortage itself even from week one. The areas I have witnessed are pretty large, contrary to your post, and have a ton of stuff to do so people are even more spread out once they go out questing. Not to mention most areas being instanced which further cuts down on the people you actually see playing. If there is a mass exodus I haven't witnessed it, and I really don't know how you would with the way the game is set up. Just because someone doesn't log into your guild doesn't mean much other than they like another class better. I don't think you can determine much in the first few weeks of a game anyway. I played Lotr and D@D online but didn't play longer then the free play time. I guess my mass exodus didn't affect them as I think both games are still in business.

what i noticed in the first weeks of launch is the attitude of some guild members, especailly on my server. Battlescar. There is 2 types of guild tbh, ones in for long haul, where entire friends run it. and basic ones just to run around ganking low level players. :D Yes these guilds exsist. EVO on battlescar is one prime example why this game will fail in the long term, as everyone i know on the server hates this guild with a passion, heaven forbid they actually build a city. as it will be the first knocked down. The whole game literally stinks, it isnt finished, there isnt a story line, and tbh i cant wait to the 26th june when my sub runs out and i can throw this onto my shelf to gather dust along with SWG. Horrible horrible game. |

after I have proven in the WAR thread that you can not even grasp grade school math or percentages, you come here to get pawned again. ok then: reread my posting: "A couple of days ago, I got the distinct feeling that the game was hemorrhaging players on a very high level... so many people from guilds I had chars in never logged in any more and the zones seem much emptier than at beginning....

I talk about my personal experience, about the feeling I get when entering zones and about my guilds. you start mumbling that I do not have concrete evidence. this is a non-sequitur. you do not use logic, just attitude. I have the right to state my impressions and I have the right to set up a poll, which is meaningful to me in this context. it will tell me if people here, who write on this forum happen to see the same trend. I know this is not hard evidence. but It is interesting for me personally.
you have to learn to think. seriously.
