http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/06/02/hello-warcraft-kitty-an-obsession-story/ WowInsider writes a really interesting perspective on the obsession of WoW players playing Hello Kitty Online in the beta and apparently enjoying it. So why are we stereotyping this game for kids and office ladies? To repost part of the article! But since then, the Warcraft community has maintained its obsession with Hello Kitty. As Thomas Crampton has pointed out, there were more than a few Warcraft-themed submissions to the HKO Closed Beta -- maybe more than the developers were actually expecting. High "Huglord" Amused of Limbo (Gorefiend-PvP) gets my vote for best video application to Hello Kitty Online closed beta. Apparantly, he and Spiderman go way back. And we can't forget the Hello Kitty Island Adventure UI mod.
So, what gives? Why do we of the War and Craft keep coming back around to Hello Kitty, and her cute-sauce adventures? |

Obviously because warcraft is not filling that void that HKO is apparently filling for the players. That and Hello Kitty owns everyones souls since childhood. xD |

You don't have to stereotype this game... it's Hello Kitty - It stereotypes itself. |

That's a fair point, although still even then the mind should open up to something new and different |

Because the only adults that will ever play this game are old ladies that collect cute shit, and pedophiles. |

Aside from parents playing with their kids, there's been a lot of interest from adults, both young (university age) and older. Check the video submissions at Sanriotown if you don't believe me. I do however think that the game will be mostly female as far as adults are concerned. And that's in no way a bad thing! As for pedophiles, they'd have to be really dumb to pick this game. Unless Sanrio is completely clueless, you can bet that they will be scrutinizing what goes on to prevent predators from messing the game.

Okay... Hmmm... Pedo's? They're everywhere and they are everywhere... Why stereotype it to "old ladies that collect cute sh*t"? I collect cute stuff. What's wrong with that? Why stereotype? Explain. |

Its all fun and games until the flying monkeys attack. |
The only thing I know about Hello kitty is that a few years ago, all of the hello kitty jewelry was found to have to much lead in it and was causing lead poisoning to the people that were wearing it. That cute on steroids cat is much more menacing then we all really think.. |

That's a really weird comment, what does lead in jewelry have to do with anything? |
