Gamers who use RMT are like athletes who use steroids.

So I am thinking let me check out Aion, heard it might be good. So I read the offical ultimate Faq thread in this forum, and there it is in black and white.

RAIDING AND INSTANCED DUNGEONS.

Enough of this crap already, raiding sucks and real gamers want a seamless non instanced game world.

With PvE raiding it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fauning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privelege. - Neanderthal

I'm a real gamer, and I couldn't care less about seamlessness.  I'm also perfectly fine with a certain amount of instancing.

I will agree, however, that raids suck.

There is no such thing as a "real" player, everyone that pays for the game and play the game is a player.

Instanced dungeons work very well with quests and storylines, and it seems Aion is doing both things in a good way.

You want no instances, go play Vanguard ( only APW is instanced sometimes ), but I bet you think this game isnt "good enough" for you.

I'm with you. I even don't mind raids as I don't do them all the time... just every now and then.

Aion has been in development for quite some time so it makes sense that it is coming out of a period where using more instances to further quest based storylines is the norm.

Aion is the only game I am looking forward to at all.

I agree with you except I enjoy raiding.  PvP sucks and can ruin a good game in a flash if not done correctly.

What ruin a game is not exacly how PvP is done, but the way the PvP crowd act in MMOs, it doesnt matter how the game presents PvP, the community around PvP is always bad.

Most players enjoy raids, most forum users dont.

I'm fairly certain instancing is a result of technology currently not being available to support a fully seamless world. Most games at the moment seem to need to find ways to trick the user into thinking it is a seamless world, rather than actually making a seamless world.

I really wouldn't blame the MMO makers for this, they are merely doing the best with the current technology available.

While I agree Aion could do better to help the user to feel like they are in a seamless world, the stability and performance increase instancing gives can not be ignored.

Particularly when the company makes an exceptional game that helps offset the annoyances instancing causes.

Instancing is here to stay until some new levels of technology are achieved. Not sure when it will be, but I will scrutinize every game that attempts to claim "no instancing" in order to see what their trick is... because tricking the user is all a game company can do achieve a "seamless" world.
