World of Warcraft

You're probably laughing and saying, "lol noob diablo iz old bad graphics" 

The only thing WoW has diablo beat at is graphics and more social interaction.   WoW is just a fancier version.

If you really break it down Diablo and WoW are pretty similar.  I've played both thoroughly and I'm playing diablo 2 right now and loving it. 

1.  WoW has a variety of abilities you can use which make you think you're a "leet" player.  in reality it all comes down to gear.  Diablo just cuts through this BS and you know right up front it's about the weapons and gear.

2. Getting gear in Diablo 2 is much more fun then getting gear in WoW.  Why you may ask?  Diablo 2 the drops are random and all over the place.  You can even gear your character with "magic find" gear nicer loot drops.  WoW has become a predictable grind for gear.  It's not exciting.  I never felt like I was grinding in Diablo because that next mob could drop a unique. 

Example why i like Diablo's gear drops.  Player A spends 10 hours a day playing and finds no uniques.  Player B plays 1 hour and finds one.  See what i'm getting at?

3. Leveling is much easier.  Diablo 2 is perfect for the casual player, but the hardcore player will have available things to do such as grind for crazy gear or just start another class.  or duel.  .

4.  Content-wise WoW obviously has diablo beat.  But let's be honest with ourselves.  Most new content isn't that unique.  You're doing pretty much the same things.  Sheep this, tank that, etc.  Diablo again cuts through the BS and has you killin the same bosses over and over.  Repetitive it is yet still not much different from any online rpg games.

The drops in Diablo are more fun.  You know what's going to drop in WoW off whichever boss.  Takes that unpredictable feeling away and makes it kinda dull.  Rare weps and armor have random enchants so the possibilities seem endless for what could drop.

5.  PvP is pretty simple.  You fight in front of the town.  Hilarity and drama ensues.  All the things you really need are there.  Even the gankers can gank if they're creative enough. 

6.  There's actually a death penalty in Diablo.  Some people hate that some like it.  I personally think it's a plus.

7. No boe/bop system.  So you don't have to trash useful gear.  Has it's ups and downs.  It's nice to find a nice drop on one of your characters you can give to another class of yours tho

8. Diablo has a hardcore mode.  Something we'll never see in WoW.

9.  Diablo has a gambling system.  Another exciting aspect WoW left out.  So rather then having gold lying around you can gamble for a nice piece of gear.  It's fun.

10.  B.net is free.  WoW is 15$ a month.

11.  No respec.  My opinion I like this.  You place a point you're stuck with it or start over.  This makes your skill points actually mean something.  You can change spec in minutes in WoW.

So while I enjoyed both games, I realized coming back to Diablo 2 that I was doing the same thing in both games.  Just trying to gear out the character.  WoW is just a more complex way of doing it.  I'm having a blast playing diablo 2 now.  Easy to level and fun.

Try Dungeon Runners by NCSoft. Its funny and a complete parody of everything you know about dungeon gaming.

Of course it's for the money! Duhh! Blizzard could have made a MMORPG based on any story, but they chose Warcraft. Why? Well,  Warcraft 3 was still very popular due to it's custom map sistem, and battle.net, so they knew that WoW will have lots and lots of fans because it's based on Warcraft 3.

The old Warcraft 3 players/fans rushed into this new game called WoW, wanting something new. Also the cartoon-like graphics appealed to younger MMO players worldwide. And that is how Blizzard managed to make money off a game that isn't really that great.

Personally I agree with most of the above, and I think in many ways Diablo 2 is still better than WoW will ever be.

I'd prefer a Diablo Online MMO instead of D3.

It really is a matter of preference but I prefer Diablo over WOW any day of the week. I thought Diablo had better gameplay, more epicness and really just so much more fun to play. Diablo easily could have been a mmo many years ago but they was so infatuated with Warhammer, well you know the rest....

Although Diablo 2 and WoW have similarities in the level grind and gear grind, WoW is just way newer.  Diablo 2 has some of the worst game play of any online game.  I dont think you can call spam clicking whatever you have your hammer set to on your hammerdin can even be considered gameplay.  If you like the random drops of Diablo 2, play Guild Wars.  in GW you always have a chance to get a rare drop with different mobs.  It is completely random.  I heard diablo 3 is in the works, I don't know if this is true or not but I am definitely looking forward to it if it is.  I loved Diablo 2, it's just outdated.

Yep absolutely agree.  Now after Blizzard have popularized the MMORPG industry hope they will fix this "nothing from everything" WoW crap and will release Diablo 3, or better some real sandbox MMORPG.

Ya, cause WoW is a hack & slash isometric game.
