I tried AOC didnt care for it, so i quit and tried Vanguard and OMG this game is doing really well awesome graphics fun to play.   I wanted to change my last name and i asked if it could be done of the chat channel and someone resoponded "No", but then a GM contacted me and said that he would change it for me.  A GM going out of thier wat to contact YOU...Awesome.  Bravo to whoever turned that game around!

Anyone else have similar stories?

With less than 40 K subscriptions the game is as good as dead.

Why invest?

A crowd doesn't make Disney Land any more fun.

MMORPGs are never "dead" until the developers jumps ship on them and turns the servers off

i love the "that game is dead" comments though...you can't talk about any MMO without someone chiming that in.

You're a tool. Ever since GU3, Vanguard has been definitely on the rise. Then GU4, and now with GU5 it's even better. This game is definitely coming along and has certainly come back from the "near death."

This is definitely more of a true sequel to EQ1 than EQ2 is. There's no reason not to give it a try, you can find it in most retailers for $19.95

No Risk, No Reward, No Subscription.

I stayed away fron vanguard like fire because of all the problems heard about... for some reason my girlfriend picked up a box and said lets play this.. i was kinda drunk and we bought 2 copies...

let me be honest here, i truely believe that this is the best MMORPG available right now

we have been playing almost 2 weeks since that day.. conviently the newest game update happened right when we started.,,,

this game is gold... its everything that was missing for the past 6 years

in my opinion its the best game ive played since asherons call.. and out of the 20+ mmos ive played... it is one of 3 of the good ones AC/UO/VG

theres a froum where you can learn why.. the basic reasons are that its an open world completely, no instances... the classes are good and theres alot to learn to play.. its not a button mashing game.. especially when you get into the massive dungeons that can take many hours to explore...

the game play good.. i get a great frame rate and i dont lag out...

i highly suggest this game.. and as far as it dieing.. its growing fast actually i see new players everywhere i play.. trial island is almost done so t here will be a free trial soon.. in a month or 2 i hear

try 2 get a buddy key in the mean time.. i actually have 2 so... ill give em out email me endr3am@hotmail.com

the 1st 6-7 lvls seemed like more of the same to me.. get past it and  you will be glad you did...

this game is incredible

edit: btw as far as the cost of the game.. we got 2 copys for $20 bucks.. andd check ebay you can get them even cheaper than that!

IMO, the only way to ever get new blood into an older game is with trials... and unfortunately this game has not started down the trial path. It's a shame really because I've been dying to try it too but I'm not paying full retail to test the game out.

How about buddy keys? Were they ever handed out with the original game/collector edition boxes? I'd love one emailed to chris@persona.ca

"Paying full retail?" You cheap twats. The game is $20 at any store and even cheaper on Ebay. Most MMO "trials" aren't worth the time anyways since they're only 7-14 days and it almost always takes longer than that to determine if it's decent or not. Give a game the full 30 days that comes with the box. If the game is still $50 then ok, I can see your point on hesitating, but most MMO retail boxes are $30 or lower after a few months of being released.
