If you are some of the ignorant masses spewing nonsense in a biased fassion about AoC, we dont want you to play it in the first place.

Originally posted by Ascension08 Not if he were a fanboy as well. You see then, to his distorted logic, it would appear quite fine. What scares me MORE is that, given his implied mark on Smedly, you might assume he came from SWG. Why is this terrifying, you ask? Because this game should, by all rights, appear stupid and empty compared to the game they came from. I couldn't imagine for a moment a single Pre-Cu fan coming into this game and think its awesome. I can see WoW players doing it, and even EQ players doing it. Maybe even some Vanguard fans. But I always assumed the draw of the core SWG fan to be the open ended gameplay and world. Perhaps I am mistaken. |

Originally posted by denshing Nooo fanbois are blindly faithful to the game. Fans are okay. But fanbois would like jump in front of a bullet for their game. I know it's sad, but sometimes in their great fight against "trolls" (to a fanboi, everyone who gives even one negative opinion is labeled as a troll) they make up stuff. Thankfully there's not too many of them, there's just alot of rabid fans lol. -------------------------------------- Order of the White Border. |

Originally posted by TheSheikh Sorry, I meant to say "sales" -Here lets do some history just like your school does. A: 500,000 sign up for "Beta testing" B: 500,000 copies sold. This was on June1, by now for all we know its well over 600,000. we will probably all be proven wrong. Ok so if you look at that you can estimate that out of those 500,000, 499,000 actually used the plastic from the disk to get stoned. so in truth there is no way this is that many subscribers huh. (If you have any intelligence you will pick up the sarcasm) I know most people who think AoC is total garbage would say melting the disks would be reasonable, but you see, very few people with a brain would buy a game for a decent amount of $ and just waste it without at least trying it, or if they had already played the beta, the only reason they would spend cash on this finished product is because they liked it or where going to maybe subscribe?

You said above (and i'm quoting you exactly) "If it means being a fan of game with 500k subscribers and increasing i dont think i'd mind" The link you provided in no way shows that they have 500k subscribers (and increasing), but rather gives the number of sales as of 6 days ago. You have no way to proove AoC has 500K+ subscribers, only sales. It is also rather absurd to assume that all 500k beta signups were different players, as well as players who actually bought the game and subscribed. While I am not implying that AoC is no where near 500k subscribers, until you provide a link with solid evidence you are doing nothing else but making loose estimations. I rest my case.

Actually the 500.000 number originated from a Funcom announcement to their investors. They were referring to the amount of people making an account up to that point. So that number can be taken as a confirmed amount of units sold up to that point. I estimate that this number is now higher. How much higher though is unknown. We'll probably need the next announcement to the investors for it. Besides, somebody who bought and activated an account is not guaranteed to have stayed in the game. It just means that he bought the box and tried the game for the free month. Retention and amount of subscribers over time is still pretty much in the air.
To the OP: I like AoC and I feel confident that it will grow to something good, given time. Your attitude however is something that is not necessary nor needed. Despite popular belief, people can spot a highly subjective opinion. And I'm afraid, this whole thread is just that. |

And every game ever has a list of stuff that could be fixed and improved - but there comes a point where Developers just decide that it is no longer worth the time, effort or money. Sometimes they reduce the size of the team, sometimes they start work on another project and sometimes they just stop completely. It also doesn't matter how many units a MMORPG sells at release - it is player retention that makes the difference. Give it 2 subscription cycles - then you will know what players really think. In the mean time OP - keep telling people to leave... I am sure Funcom appreciate your good work. P.S. Inappropriate use of smilies in the OP. I tried playing Real Life but the graphics sucked, the community was annoying too. |

Originally posted by Xasapis That actually doesn't matter in any way or form because a subjective matter is good brain food for the slow, and also good debate material for the smart, I am glad you are smart enough to share a lot of my views, but one thing you don't get is that subjective views are "important " in there ways. It gives people a clue on the state of something, Why would anybody like me bother to make a thread like this is there was absolutely nothing going on to warrant it? Maybe i am wrong, maybe i am right, If i am wrong, wouldn't you be able to argue that posting anything on any forum would be a waste and pointless? Views are just that. Regardless i do respect you opinions much more than some on this thread, but maybe its that your kind of post with just the right constructive criticism what ive been waiting for, more people aught to speak there minds appropriately like you do
