I don't know... I mean, when I play WAR I'm sitting in a chair, looking at my monitor, with 1 hand on my mouse and the other on my keyboard, except when i have BOTH hands on my keyboard to type.  It feels a lot like WoW to me.

Sadly all games (save the WII and party games like DDR and karaoke revolution) can simply be explained as "push buttons".  because no matter if it is solving puzzles or killing nazis, you're just pressing buttons.  You can simplfy life into "create electricity in your brain and release chemicals in differing amounts" because in the end, thats all you do.

My point is that the broader you get, the more similar EVERYTHING is.  MMOs are very alike, but if you look at it from further away, ALL computer games are very alike, then they are like console games too.  The diffrences are in the small things.  The feel, the systems, the communities.  Things feel like WoW because you played WoW.  If you never played WoW nothing would ever feel like it.  So let the games be similar, and let them be diffrent, as long as they are fun and we enjoy them, thats what matters.

Btw, wouldn't it be nice if  everyone stopped saying " if it's like wow i wont play it?"

to be honest WoW the first 2 years before the cross server shit and the expansion was very fun to play. Everyone played it, some even got married due to WoW!! I am looking forward to repeat some good experiences of WoW in WAR, but also, i expect WAR to be free of the annoying elements of WoW that ruined the game.

10 man Arthas? No thanks.

OMG Legendary Bow! Rogue Weapon!

You say it's a lot like wow, and that's a bad thing. Any game that has not been like wow has been a horrible failure. Methinks looking like wow = good thing.

I never said it was a bad thing.  I said I was dissappointed that is all.  I enjoyed WoW until the endgame.  I never really enjoyed WoW's "Carrot on a stick" endgame mentality.

Why So Serious?

but yet your enjoying AoC Cabe thats whats hilarious...

WoW - End Game Teir'd Raiding system (carrot)

AoC - End Game Teir'd Raiding System (carrot)

WoW - Seperate PvP System

AoC - Seperate PvP System

(granted they differ entirely once you get past the surface but still you can't start PvPing until a higher level and its an entirely seperate mechanic from the rest of the game)

WoW - heavy guild needs

AoC - heavy guild needs

WAR - Ingrated PvE/ PvP progression system

WAR - no Raid Progression

WAR - guild & community needs

The only thing that Sets AoC out from the pack is its arrow combo system it took from a single player game and its Guild Player Cities & Siege Keeps and some shallow Surface things oh and Graphics can't forget that.

The funniest thing is ...its us as players that Define what path we take to progress many get pissed at the carrot and ignore the fact they dont even have to follow the carrot.  Its the fact the carrot is there that they think they're obligated to only do what the carrot leads them too.    WAR allows us to progress in any method we want but people will always whine about the fact there are Carrot Quests for people who LIKE to adventure through quests.   If you dont want to do the things that remind you of WoW try doing something else like roaming on your own or only playing the RvR siege zones.

I have already told my friends that Age Of Conan may only be a short home for me.  Once I get to 80 if the game ends up being just like WoW then I will move on.

The actual leveling in Age of Conan is quite a bit of fun in my opinion.  I enjoy the more interactive combat that it has as opposed to the system that World of Warcraft uses.  (I just came from World of Warcraft so I was ready for something different)

I have been waiting for Warhammer for a long time.  I absolutely loved Dark Age of Camelot.  It was one of my top MMO games of all time and one of only a few that I played for longer then a few months.  When I heard that Mythic was making a new RvR game I was so stoked about it.  I have been hyped for a long time.  I really really enjoy the way they make their games.

But I wish they had made Dark Age of Camelot 2 instead.  I don't know but even though I know better I can't help but feel "WoW" while seeing the game.  Which sucks in my opinion because I just got done playing WoW and do not want to go back.  At least Dark Age of Camelot had a total different feel to it.  I wish that WAR looked more like DAoC then WoW.  Now I know why it looks like WoW.  I know all of the back story on Blizzard & Games Workshop.  And while I am not a tabletop gamer I do know that they are matching the art style of Warhammer.

I just can't help but wish that WoW had never came out.  Then I would be even more stoked about the game.  I still have the collector's edition on preorder but I just wish that they had decided to continue with their DAoC franchise instead.

I mean how awesome would it be to play a new DAoC with no ToA messups and a new engine with better animations and a better UI.  Heck DAoC with the LoTRO engine would be awesome.

Oh well I guess it is just wishful thinking.  Maybe after I get past the look of the game and experience more of the game play I will be more happy with it.  Because I do know that Mythic will get the RvR right and it will be really good.

Will tell you one thing for sure. It is GW wanted to see game graphics a bit cartoonish, just like TT models, so no wonder WAR looks a little like WoW. But I saw WAR IRL on monitor (sadly didn't get a chance to play) and it looks different then WoW. The stuff you see on screenshots looks very different then Live one.

"Carrot on a Stick" was a fun quest chain though.  To be honest I do see WAR and WOW as similar games as the basis for both started with the crew from WAR.  But, I  like  many don't enjoy the endless endgame that WOW introduced.  I know that some people do enjoy it and that is fine.  But from what we have seen and heard so far, I believe WAR will be a better fit for me.  I have preordered and will likely play for at least 3 months even if there are issues.   Also, I hope WAR is successful as at least a two game market is better for the comsumer.  Either way we should have fun figuring out wether WAR is great or average.   I just hope that AOC is a filler until WAR makes it out (unlikely).

Also, just think the next game we will all get to look forward to is WOW2, if WAR isn't very successful.

Patience is a virtue, reason a necessity

You know, I would def look forward to a WoW 2, if they ever came out with one.  As long as they learned their lesson and did not make it a gear grind.
