Wish I could program because I would make this game myself, but since I can't will someone please come out with a game like this soon: A game that is an open seamless, persistant world, based in history (like ancient roman times or middle ages), no orcs or magic or elf crap, an action based combat system where using your sword is like in Jedi outcast (you hit direction and mouse button and you attack that direction), with different stances (heavy stance = high damage low defence, medium = balance of the 2, and ligthstance = low damage high defence), and bows would be like a fps if you wished, you could earn weapon upgrades as you level, and you can earn differen skill or stance upgrades are you level as well. It would be a pvp focused game with pve content as well. PvE and PvP would both help you level, there could be PvE dungeons that you cold do solo or with friends, if you are good enough with your tactics and skill you could clear the dungeon solo, but it would be easier with friends. End Game would have player built towns/cities/castles, or you could just build your own house somewhere obscure to defend it. There would be battles to control different towns. It would be a faction based games where you could ultimately try to capture capital cities of the oposing faction. Anyway, this is a ramble because there isn't a game like this out there. Cheers |

why do humans build, because it isn''t there |
mess around in WurmOnline, or EvE. that's the closest any company will ever get to what some people want(read you want). wurmonline is for the most part pre-advanced-dark-ages. IE there is steal and some things along those lines that wouldn't fit into an earth timeline. |

I started out wanting to agree with you but then you started talking about leveling up. And getting gear upgrades and ability upgrades as you gain levels. So you kind of lost me there. It seems like you're just asking for another level based, gear grind. So what's the point? Even if the world is open, seamless, and persistant; if it's level based 99% of the game world will be obsolete for you after you reach max level. And if it's gear based you'll spend the rest of your time at the "endgame" grinding for gear in the remaining 1% of the world. |

Im talking more like CoD4 type weapon upgrades and levels.....the levels just open up the upgrades, if you have played it, they don't mean too much, but give you some pretty cool upgrades that help a little but don't really give you an advantage over other players. |

So you mean Planetside-like leveling. I like the idea of a Roman, or whatever era type game with no "monsters" other than Lions, etc. Some game talked about giving combat bonuses to players in a certain formation. So, the damage you do and defense is based also on how your comrades line up with you. AND, it would be cool if they'd implement morale. Say you are in a formation; and are flanked by a surprise calavry attack. Just like in Rome-Total War, it would be cool if you might lose morale and Flee uncontrollably. Sort of like in EQ when Dragon-Fear would make you run away if you lost your saving throw. Just like Planetside, levels do open up opportunities for you, but they aren't the end-all-be-all of the game. I can imagine a game like this, leveling up "fearless" so that you aren't as apt to Flee; or leveling up command ranks, etc. Ya cool stuff. BUT, I don't think you can mix in PVE elements here. It must be a PvP game. |

And I'm glad there isn't, because your game doesn't sound interesting to me. |

Behold! Rash of the Itch King comes in November! Quake in fear! |
We need a good Roman MMO. Rome was the best. *Quick sniffle at the memory of Gods and Heroes*. Roma Victor sucks...make one with Roman setting but enemies like Gauls and Greeks, then throw in some stuff from Roman mythology. Your idea seems okay, you just need to go to Staples and get an easy button. Never know right? |

my dream mmo is the same: a persistant mmofps set in a swords & bows era (with RvR capture etc). need to try that star wars game tho. PS: not that bothered about pve, i'd rather just play decent solo rpgs (kotor etc.) |
