I finally got the game downloaded and running, but Maelin Starpyre is completely dead (unless there is a new gathering place other than PoK). I guess it was wishful thinking that the old guild would still be around, things were dying when I left. It's really a pity; that such a complex and rich game can't maintain a higher player base. I suppose I'll try out EQ2 though, now that I have unrestricted access to the whole game.

Exactly right. I still say that if they would have a NEW and RETURNING PLAYER Sever, that it would not only fill up with the new and returning players, but even the vets might start a toon for a fresh start. It might not ever be totally full, but I bet it would rock all the other servers that are left. Too bad, as you said, what a pity.

The server i am on (Saryrn) is busy, you should take a look in the guild lobby that is where most people hang around. You can find it the the South West of the library in the Pok zone.

aye got my old main on Saryrn,  i have to say as well still looks like alot of people playin on there

I just downloaded everything and logged in today.  The last time I played (around 2004), the Plane of Knowledge was overflowing with people.  Lots of stuff was happening.  Now, at least on Fennin Ro, there were about 2 people in the PoK, and I was thinking, maybe there is a new gathering place since I've last been on.  Maybe it's back in East Commonlands   I don't know because I've been out of the loop for so long.  Although it was very nostalgic to log back on my 65 magician and 65 enchanter again (max level when I last played), it is quite disappointing in many other ways.

I even forget how to play the darn game.  How do you get the info on each of your spells in your spell book?  Other than the name, I can't get any other info (mana cost, reagents, etc).  I'm so lost!! 

The game is most certainly dead, but most people hang out in the guildhall(instance) or guild lobby.

Most of us warned you it was dead, though. 

The "community" is a diaspora in WoW, EQ II, EVE, etc. 

The only people that remain are the most dedicated raiders, and people like me that rarely play.

I quit at level 65 as well. You need to hold right-click on the spells.

SOE have said that eq has about the same amount of active subs as eq2.
