Christopher Rabideau, the Producer for EA Mythic's Dark Age of Camelot has posted a new letter to player on the DAoC Herald.

Hello Dark Age of Camelot and fellow Players,

Many of you have already participated in the new server poll we have been conducting to gauge interest in what we are calling the ‘Origins’ server ruleset, also referred to as an ‘Old Frontiers’ server. I would like to thank everyone who has participated so far, as well as thank those who have provided the incredible amount of constructive feedback we have received through the Herald and through the various message forums relevant to DAoC. My team and I were pleasantly surprised by how much interest this poll has generated. The poll is still available to the public on the Herald, and we are still watching its results with great interest.

Read the rest here.

rofl, 3500 prime time players, about 350 per server, lets say we triple that because ppl who dont play still follow the game, yep..pretty impressive interest..lol

Just goes to show Mythic know fook-all about what players think of their game.

Population has nosedived to almost zero since ToA and NF came out, they announce a server without NF or ToA and they are surprised players are interested?

Roll back the game 5 years and try again now they FINALLY admit they screwed it up? Too little, too late.

Bad expansion politics were one of the main reason this lovely game crashed into.

I have have never heard of a game that offers server or is aplanning to, that dont have specific addons or expansions active.

Funny how when the playerbase was screaming about ToA and NF Mythic conveniently ignored them.

They could have fixed ToA with some major nerfs, but decided not too because it might upset the few powergamers.

I just don't think this will bring many players back into the fold.

DOS 6.22 - fuzzy memories...

I never played DAoC but I'm definitely giving it a try when they make these new implementations - I've heard so many good things about this game (at least how it used to be).

Tried: MxO, FFXI, TR, D&DO, EQ1, Archlord
Played: CoX, GW, DR, AO, SWG, EQ2
Playing: WoW-BC
To be played: AC, DAoC, Planetside, Mabinogi, EVE, PotBS, AoC, Vanguard, Ryzom

“Game Experience May Change During Online Play” is about ESRB ratings, not changing game content!

Definitely give it a go if they offer a free trial -- DAoC was my first mmo, I had lots of fun with it back in the day.  There was an area called Darkness Falls that would open for 1 of the 3 realms at a given time (I forget how it worked, maybe whoever controlled the most rvr items) that we'd like to play and farm in.  It ALWAYS got fun when DF changed hands as it would become overrun with the new forces -- everyone would make a bee-line for it.

Cynical? Me? Never.

A lot of great ideas that should have made it to the live servers. I will give it a try if it is released before WAR.

...doesn't sound like an "origins" or "old-school" server to me like indicated previously by Mythic, to be quite honest. Not saying that the ideas are necessarily bad, but I dont see the point in
