IF it needs it to prevent a total failure as Conan...

Conan is a half game ... not even an mmo in my opinion...

Mythic plz dont make the same mistake like Funcom....first create the game and then sell it, at least then the subscriptions would continue, not get cancelled :S

Pushing the release date back more wouldn't guarantee that it'll release a more complete game. Since it has shown that Mythic is willing to push the game back if it's absolutely necessary, I'm sure they'll make the right decision. However, if the game is, at the very least, decent and playable by the planned release date, then perhaps they'll release it.

Also, understand that there are negative aspects of pushing back the game, in terms of financial and potential player base.

Moreover, a MMO can technically never really be completed anyway so as long as it's not obviously missing content like AoC, WAR will probably do fine given the hype and progress so far.

gotta love it when people complain about the devs pushing it back.  then give them flak for releasing a "half finished" game.  they cant win can they?

I think Mythic has been a lot more open with information about the game's development and this you will see a complete (near?) game at release. Their track record with DAOC is proof of that (I was there on day one and there were no real earth shattering gameplay issues at launch....just normal small bugs that got worked out fast). As for AOC, that's a different story....they released very little info, were selective in what they did show and kept the NDA up till almost launch....and now, we all see why. Not wholly their fault though as the game was pushed out too soon in large part due to financial and invester pressures....however, they did have 5 years or so to work through those things and some of the parts that are broken are just mind boggling basic stuff.

I have all faith in Mythic. When they say the game is ready for release, I will believe them and be right there to play.

I agree and I think the WAR devs do to since they have a "its ready when its ready" policy, but please don't turn this into an AoC bash contest. For one we dont want their fanbois getting all fired up and flooding our forum; Two some of us play AoC for the moment and enjoy it; Three its not fair to hit a game while its currently down (experiencing issues).

Cheers!

10 man Arthas? No thanks.

OMG Legendary Bow! Rogue Weapon!

I have got to agree with the OP here. If it's a matter of completion and quality push it back as far as it needs to be. If it's just minor bugs and "nice to have" features etc. I say go ahead and release it.

Warhammer wont be pushed back again unless something drastic comes along (which I can't see happening).  The games graphics are not revolutionary but they are good for the atmosphere.  I know this has been said before but Warhammer Online does look alot like WoW only with more detail in the environments and character models (this is not a bad thing people!)

Agreed. This is not a bad thing. MMO's have a lot going on, and I will sacrifice graphics for gameplay EVERY time. I think we are learning this with astounding failures like AOC and Vanguard.

If we could have a game with graphics and storyline it would be great.  Vanguard could have been "the one" but something happened along the way that ran it into the ground.  If Vanguard had another year of hardcore development it would have been great.  As for AoC, it is still a good game but like many other mmos these days they are released far too early and with several holes.  We should probably get used to unfinished games for a while I guess.
