I was looking to buy a new video card for my PC so I was looking to get some recommendations. Here are a few cards I was looking at:

By the the end of this month the next gen from ATI (hd4870) and Nvidia (gtx280) should be out. us$200 to 600; pcie2. gt200 Older gpu, in the us$200 range few beat the 512MB gf8800gts.

2 weeks ago i picked up a BFG geforce 8800 GT OC2(overclocked). unfortunately it has a a defect so my new one should be here this week. when it was working, it was very nice. i asked the same question you did, OP, on the AOC forums before purchasing. most posters lead me to this card with price and performance in mind. i was unwilling to buy any new cards due to inflated prices and lessons learned. you can get this card for under $200 or about there. -I will subtlety invade your psyche- |
