They could have saved themselves and me a lot of hassle if they had just said up front that this is not an fpr or fps style game as I was led to belive and direction controls are with the A and D keys instead of the mouse.

I wouldn't have waited anxiously for the game for 2 years and turned into a hater.

Watch the latest episode of "The Guild" and other Pwnage videos from around the net--also post your own: http://PwnerTV.com

Yes, I believe you made yourself clear May 5th

They lost me when I found out your steer your character with the A and D keys.

Real-time combat is control your direction with mouse, W forward, D back, A sidestep left, D sidestep right.

If they had said this at the first, I wouldn't have anxiously awaited the release for years of what looked like it was going to be a great game.

Now it's just fun to watch the battle between the fanboys and the haters.  Most of the fanboys haven't played, most of the haters have.

As well as May 9th

Don't worry--there's no fps crossover, unfortunately, because it would be nice if the direction were controlled with the mouse, not the A and D keys, but I guess they couldn't get away from the Anarchy controls.

You actually made a similar post on March 23

Any gamer would have thought that, turn the character with the mouse, hold a mouse button down to look in different directions.

Game design 101:  A and D keys are for sidestepping, not steering the character.

I hope someone comes up with a great game soon that really plays the way gamers want to play.

Sick of the crap on the radio? Try ETN.fm or party107.com

Wow OP got pwned on that...

Edit:  They are pretty standard for me and I have played a few MMO's myself.  I always get rid of the turning keys and turn A & D into strafe keys.

Their movement controls are completely standard to most mmos and fps's.. what rock have you been living under? lol.  Too many f2p click fests perhaps?

In most mmorpgs, to get the 'mouselook' of fps style games, hold the right botton.  Thats also pretty standard.

Also, the controls are 99% customizable.. so err.. what exactly are you complaining about then?

You would be surprised how few people care about what you have to say.

...Sovrath rolled a forum fatality.

According to the great annals of MMO history, movement tends to be with the keyboard because games that did it with the mouse received...

If you bring the camera all the way in to first person mode then you get the controls you are looking for. A & D sidestep and mouse turns character.

Is there a mouselook toggle button setting in 3rd person, or is it lame like WoW and LoTRO requiring you to hold down a mouse button to use mouselook, or install an addon for that basic functionality?
