My point of view never changed, I meant oblivion but i remeber the name morrowind the most, because I played that more at a time when I played mmo less, before oblivion came out, when WoW was already take up most players time. When I write something on the forum, I just write quickly, sometimes I type something different to what I meant, I made these corrections without altering the original post.

I know what ya meant, ReSub. No worries.

Some people will like the game and some won't. I respect that.

For myself, I'm loving AoC. Not quite what I want in an MMORPG but I still love it. More than LotRO, WoW, VG, AC, AC2, EvE, GW, LIN2, EQ and EQ2. But, that's just me. By the way, I didn't say I hated the games above. Tried em all and like certain aspects of those games.

Still subbed to WoW and LotRO. But, I'm an MMORPG whore.

To the OP: If you were trying to discredit the game...  this entire thread does the complete opposite. Now I feel even better about all these hate threads... everyone is running out of malicious info to spread... now people are complaining about the GRAPHICS?? The game has a huge arsenal of mistakes and you choose to troll the game on easily one of the best aspects of this game?

No MMORPG out yet has graphics as detailed as this. Then you try to say the "design" was horrible. It's called a realistic approach. It's design is almost symmetrical in concept as the Elder Scroll games, which really isn't too horrible at all. The graphics are upped a great notch from it, though. The only difference is the lack of different races when it comes to their design.

Detail doesnt mean good graphics, a bad artist drawing a picture on a large canvas doesn't ensure a better picture, I didn't ready what others were complaining about, this is from my personal point of view and it is my complain as a playing customer.

Yes, it has a huge arsenal of mistake, but some I trying to ignore, I've already been stuck many time and I've mail item that disappeared without warning. There are some people who don't care about the design of games, but then there are us, who do.

I also agree as I tried to state in the Op post, Oblivion can look much better then AoC, esp after several player made skin and armor mods.

I mentioned parallels to elderscoll as a negative point of view, because when elderscroll came up serveral years earlier it was good, this is years later down the line, AoC comes out, which is now mimicing a game that is outdated. Just with some online content. Elderscoll release was more timely then AoC. And the player build city concepts are already in the construction set of elderscoll... I feel AoC is a total mimic of Elderscoll, but it came out too late to claim the prize. Because the extended time it took for this game to be built, because of all the delays of it's release, it is already an old game before it came out.

To the OP.

I give you 0 out of 10 trolling points.

I've seen some really bad trolling before. But this is priceless ... LOL

If the graphics in AOC are from 1990:s, what about WOW ? 1971 ?

I don't care for this trolling system, I just wanted to voice my own opinion like a normal person.

Yes wow don't have amazing graphics, but we all played it because in 2004 and that was pretty good, it has endure because of the game play.

But this is 2008, have you seen half the games out there, with games like call of duty 4. The design style of this game follow closely to elderscrolls of the past, even elderscoll themselve will surpass their ow design if they release anything today.

I'm not going to get on here and start bashing you for your opinion OP, but I will chime in with my own opinion. I think you need to play some more games before making a judgement and educating yourself on the differences between MMORPGs and Single Player Games.

First off, there really isn't a lot of similarity between Oblivion and AoC. Maybe their technology is similar, but you cannot expect developers to make a game using the latest and greatest graphics and still expect the game to run with several hundred people, much less thousands of people on the same server. Because the game is online, it must automatically lower the graphics of the game, so people can play it with each other. In fact, AoC is actually too technilogically advance for MMORPGs, because they have to result to heavy instancing to make the game playable.

I do agree that some things are pretty ugly in AoC. Some avatars look ugly, there isn't enough customization for the faces, due to having only a few base faces to work with. There also isn't a lot of hair and facial hair choices. The trees don't look as realistic as LoTRO's trees. However, the buildings in the game, the NPC's, creatures, and monsters all look great. The weapons and armor look realistic as well, which is good. Overall, the game looks great, but I can see where a person would think the graphics (art design) is ugly. However, the artistic value of the graphics is subjective, so creating a thread on it is only going to attract negative attention.

I have my own opinion on the game itself, too. My favorite part of the game is the combat system and graphics. I liked the voice overs in Tortage, but hated how everything went mute after it. I prefer it all to be voiced over or none of it to be voiced over. Not both, because it is only teasing to offer something and then take it away. Besides, these days voice overs are expected. Even EQ2, which is a 4 yr old game has voice overs.

I think the game is too heavily instanced. This is the fault of the graphics. Without these instances, the game wouldn't look as good as it does now. This is personal opinion, but I'd sacrifice some graphics to play in a seamless world. Vanguard pulled it off, with good graphics, albeit with a rocky start. I also feel the quests are terribly boring. The Destiny Quests are okay, but the rest suck as far as I have seen. I actually prefer to grind, since i like the combat system, than questing, even though questing gives better rewards and more xp.

What I like about AoC, that can only be done online is the ability to create player cities, and siege PvP. I haven't made up my mind on how long I will stick with it, but I will probably give it another month to see how the end game unfolds. If the end game is pretty fun and expansive, I might stick with it. If not, I will quit and wait for WAR to come out or the new Classic DAoC server to release.

DOS 6.22 - fuzzy memories...

I have no idea why people support this game, the graphics engine (*I meant graphics and design, not the engine*) is completely outdated, and it is so outdated
