Due to a new promotion, dubbed "The Living Legacy", former players (in good standing) of EQ and EQII will be able to play the games for free until the end of July.
More on the promotion here. Cheers, |

Yes! Woot! Awesome! Hurray! This couldn't have happened at a better time considering summer just started! Plus, when I left EQ, I was missing 8 expansions which have now just been handed over to me for free. And I used to play EQ2 as well where I owned 0 expansions. So now I own all the expansions for EQ2 as well with a free 2 months. Pssh, I'm loving it and already ingame w/o spending a penny! =D Hi! My name is paper. Nerf scissors, rock is fine. |

GODDAMNIT! I just bought SoF last week and re-activated my account. Oh well it was still pretty much free, paid with Best Buy Reward Zone certificates. Well at least the EQII stuff will be free. |

Although when I try to make a new character, my pc crashes, and at the moment, I am only able to log-on as my old characters. Anyone know why this is? |

Might be a good time to play again, since AoC is bugged to hell. But damn, that's going to be a huge freaking download. "Civilization is a road by which man travels, not a house for him to dwell in. His true city is elsewhere" -Christopher H. Dawson |

EQ1? Its been years and I am not going to buy the double digit expansions just to play for free, The DDL would take two days. - pass.

There is no cost to get every expansion up to now. Actually if you go to the site... they are giving $5 to spend on later exp as well as everything until now. Thats the good news. The bad, though not mentioned anywhere, is that the account have to have been inactive for a good long while. My account expired in May, no free time for me :( |

Originally posted by Solude If it's anything like the SWG vet trials, it'll need to be inactive for 90 days. Interestingly, the tiral account I made back in 2006 when the SWG servers were down for a major update and only played for 2 hours is now reactivated with this promotion... |

Cool idea just in time for the summer months. "If we don't attack them, they will attack us first. So we'd better retaliate before they have a chance to strike" |

This is there big incentive to get new players back? big fucking deal, thanks SoE for letting me down once again. Expected a progression or some type of new server so that when I start playing again things are on a level playing field. |

The servers were almost dead when I was playing I doubt they would want to open a new server :D even a bunch of freebies wont get me back to playing Everquest2, the lack of dual core and sli made it run like a dog on my laptop

Hrm... not too shabby to get to play free until the end of July! It'll give me something to do when there's nothing to do in WoW.. :) |

Although I'm happy for everyone else....it's pretty much a bummer that I paid full price for BOTH Faydwer AND RoK just a month ago and came back. I couldn't have had worse luck in timing. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely glad to be "home", but man it sucks from a financial perspective. President of The Marvelously Meowhead Fan Club |

Originally posted by observer AoC isn't "bugged as hell" as you put it. Like any MMO launch there are some minor bugs to work out but nothing that makes the game unplayable. Personally, I've only found 2 bugs since I started playing and 1 a GM fixed for me after I petitioned. The other was a terrain bug I reported. I may pop on EQ2 a bit, I always thought that game had a lot of potential. I lost interest when they did the "combat upgrade" a while back. It's free after all for now, so all it will cost me is some download time and disk space. |
