Every player now has a Combo Skill called Dancing after new patch this morning. Pressing it enters "Dance Mode" where your character swirls around until you press one of the 3 arrows. Each of them starts a combo that begins a pretty damn cool set of dance moves.

I REALLY hope this was in jest, i am finding it harder and harder to tell anymore |

Nope it is real. Not an emote, but a sort of Mini-Game. Kind of Celtic mixed with Russian mixed with break-dancing. One combo is a back-flip into a prone position where you start doing the worm then backflip into the squatting-kicking Russian type dance. Also a pretty cool mid-air backflip-kick thing I provided a screenshot to above. Maybe not as "cool" as the WoW Dances, but these are interactive and dancing in AoC has great potential to expand.

I'd been happier if they fixed the bug that causes me to spin out of control while in combat. |

It is just more evidence of Funcom's complete stupidity that while grouping remains broken (as many/most quests goals do not complete for all members meaning you must do a quest once for each member) that they where working on such a stupid thing as this. It is fast becoming apparent that AoC is Vanguard II. -------------------------------- |

Originally posted by AgtSmith Vanguard was an absolute trainwreck at launch, AoC has its problems and may be a flash in the pan game when alls said and done, but you really can't compare the two. Although dancing is not something I give a crap about in a game, it is the small details that make one game shine over another, so for someone this will be a welcome addition, just not anyone here, perhaps the next thing they add will be the one you or I love. As for taking away from bug fixes, I'm sure whoever does these animations has nothing to do with bug fixes, so relax. The time and effort it took to make characters dance isn't whats gonna make or break this game. |

Originally posted by AgtSmith LOL. Way to overreact. Do you exaggerate and whinge about everything in life? Perhaps you out to get out a little more. Personally I'm glad they are putting emotes in early, they are a key way to interact with otehr players. |

Originally posted by Cropper I will try that. I found that jumping off small ledge seems to fix it. Another one is being stuck continually walking backwards though I has not happened for several days so I'm thinking its since been fixed. I am going to try dancing and check it out. One thing that I think is lacking in this game are more social features, not related to chopping off heads and such. As strange as it may sound I love to fish in games, also a duelling feature would be nice (unless its in there and I haven't found it yet).

Originally posted by Lieberungi was just thinking that.. what the hell are they doing? they should instead be focusing on the problematic scaling of classes ie. some classes are just not viable at higher levels, because their damage doesnt scale well two of them fixed however, and that is good news(!) but, why not? its a nice concept.. its also funny to see the "is that it?" thread response to each patch.. 30 pages long each time a patch comes out

Most likely it's been in development for a while, it just was not ready for launch with all the other issues that needed fixing. It's a welcome addition to the game, the more fluff the better. |

I can only assume funcom lost its mmo dev teams that did AO, and have a bunch of first timers working on this thing. Holy odd thing to waste development time on, considering the rest of the game. ---- |

That is like issuing a recall on a car to put a steering wheel on it - you have kind of lost that battle shipping it missing on in the first place.
The number of key MMO concepts and capabilities missing or broken in AoC is stunning. - Grouping is hopeless, and even questionably necessary, because quest goals for many quests don't update for anything but on group member. - Stat bonuses are broken so functionally not part of the game (IE item bonus to strength or constitution). - Item drops are a joke - you get the same crap at 40 that you got at 10, many times worse drops even. - Economy is laughable - prices on basic items cost more than the average player at that level has but 5 to 10 fold. I.E. - by level 30/40 most players will struggle to have even half 1G yet mounts cost several G and training for a mount costs 1G. - The standard PvP verse PvE nerf battle is beginning where all the ganking and whoring on PvP servers leads to NERF cries that affect PvE players while the PvPers just move on to the new flavor of the month. - Funcom is admittingly banning people not guilty of anything. I support banning cheaters and exploiters they are admittingly banning first and vetting guilt later. - Incredibly bad, nearly functionally broken, UI. - Inability to bind mouse buttons in game and hard binding of game functions to extra mouse buttons - no using Mouse 4/5 as push to talk without reprogramming said buttons out of game.
I like the game, it has some choices that are not perfect but overall it can be a great game much like overall VG could have been a grweat game. But I have seen many games go live incomplete and unfinished and they never recover as you simply cannot develop these things in live. Maybe funcom will get it done but so far the patches are not showing they get it at all. AoC clearly needed another 2 to 4 months of work - mostly polish and optimization with broad bug fixing. -------------------------------- |

I think it's fantastic. Little things like this will keep roleplayers happy. There is more then one dev on the team. It's obvious they have devs on performance and bugs. There are devs that probably don't have their hands in the pots effecting the particular issues you're facing and can work on fun, fluff-related things like this, that tend to breath more life into a game for some of us. |

Originally posted by LaserwolfNot sure why people would be negative about this, its a good vairation on the combo system. Kind of like LOTRO music.
Of course if people are pissed this got added instead of bug fixes then fine, but otherwise its a good thing. Better than canned dances IMO. |
