Hell yeah, thats exactly what I said. It has the looks of FFXI with the Dynamics of World of Warcraft. This is why im so interested in this game. I still think FFXI was one of the best looking mmo's i've ever played. And from what I hear Square is in development to make another mmo. Let's hope it's not so friggin insanely difficult like FFXI was. Took me 6 months to get to level 55, that's just crazy hard. And don't get me started on Hyper Notorious Monsters. --------------------------------- |

The worse thing about FFXI is that you couldn't solo anything. Basically if you didn't have a group, you weren't going to level. I don't like to solo, but sometimes it's just hard to find a group, so it's nice to be able to solo grind while you wait for a party. In FFXI it wasn't possible. |

Oh yeah, it was terrible u couldnt solo. I would wait til wee hours in the morning trying to get a party. And then ur party disbanded in no time. Makes me cringe still thinking about it. --------------------------------- |

I think the game would be doing very well if it weren't for the fact you can't solo.
I really enjoyed my first 20 lvls in that game, but beyond that...it was impossible for me. |

The soloing thing is so true, the only job that could solo was a bst, and that was normaly for shtis and giggles, except the people who made that job good for end-game. although u couldnt ever solo shit, it would show that the people who actualy got to lvl 75 were completely dedicated to the game, and were not newbs, (atleast average) players. FFXI didnt have a very good pvp system, but they totaly made up for it showing the HUGE end-game pvp. want a good piece of gear? go kill a giant dragon in some random place and maby ull get it lol. the one huge problem with FFXI was the fact that the own people destroyed the economy, so many people bought gil (well i gotta admit, getting gil was fucking tough) But Aion reminds me sooo much of FFXI, also the fact old FFXI players are switching to it, its gonna be so good ^_^ |

U forget, summoners were also one of the only classes that could solo. I still remember to this day trying to get one of my level 55 class gear (i forget what it was called) and seeing a summoner soloing a level 70 Notorious Monster. --------------------------------- |

Wow i am an "old" ffxi player as well but i still play from time to time. The problem is ive done everything ive wanted to do, well just about anyways but the things left are almost impossible. Finished bastok missions, zilart, CoP, and ToAU. Got some pretty kickass gears for my pld as well, short of some pretty much impossible items or ones that aren't really needed. Have to agree on the soloing thing sometimes it would just be nice to do something on my own besides crafting, farming, and really lame quests. (only quests soloable are lame lol) I'm looking for something new to switch to though that will bring some of the stuff I like from ffxi but bring some new stuff as well. I miss pvp from lineage 2 but its even more "grindy" then ffxi if you can believe. Dieing in L2 was an awful experience if you weren't with someone you trusted as well. So i'm hoping this game turns out to be something nice and fun to play. Characters look great, the world looks great so far, and pvp looks like its gonna be something fun. Plus having wings is just cool if you ask me. |

Also I forgot to mention, what made me quit the game was the whole TP nerf. I remember getting like 60 TP back from using Pentathrust (which was bad effin ass btw) to getting 10 TP + 1 extra TP for every hit. That was such a stupid nerf that I completely ruined the game for me. Altho After seeing a lvl 75 monk using Asuran fists and gaining 100 TP back from it and continually using it was kinda BS as well. --------------------------------- |

I haven't played FFXI in a year now, I've heard that even Valkurm Dunes is near dead now(on some servers that I used to be on). And for the soloing part, there were some combos that worked, but only on EP's and sometimes DC's... But soloing worked wonders with any job/NIN. lol... Do people still rant about NIN being an overpowered tank? Last time I played, Wings of the Goddess came out few months after and people were still bitching about NIN being considered the main tank. lolz @ dat

Well with the changes to shield mastery and auto refresh plds are kind of at the for front of tanking these days. That doesn't mean nins can't I think SE has done a good job of balancing out the tanks it all depends on what you are fighting now and how smart the tank is. I myself am a pld and I know a lot of 75 plds that I wouldn't trust for a second tanking mobs like proto omega, or even the lesser gods lol. It works the same for ninjas as well it all depends on what you're fighting and how good you play the jobs. Good gear can make a HUGE difference too, I don't think it would be possible to tank pld/nin if I didn't have all the haste gear I wear. It urks me when I see ninjas and pld/nins not wearing haste gear when tanking no matter how much emnity you can stack on reaching that +15% haste is top priority for nins and pld/nins as far as I'm concerned. I could go into more detail on that but I think it would belong in the ffxi section of the forums lol. Well anyways I'm really looking forward to Aion open beta and if there isn't one then I'm looking forward to the release looks like a great game and one that would suit me well. |

I played FFXI for 3 years and I still have my account, cant stand the thought of throwing away 7 lvl 75s.....anyway I think this game is alot like FFXI and better which is why im drooling over it. I think its like FFXI and WoW but better and I'm currently on WoW.
And for everyone that said you cant solo in FFXI I think it depends alot on the job you were and how you played as an individual because thats pretty much what I loved to do and did it alot, solo. My solo jobs I loved to use were RDM,THF,NIN,BLU all 75. The other jobs were for group stuff, especially SAM. I can't wait for this game, I watched the videos and they said it will not be an xp grind which really made me happy because I loved the xp grind but I hated it at the same time, because you had to depend on people at lower lvls in FFXI and couldnt really solo your very best with certain jobs until 74. WoW is great because I can solo all the way to 70 BUT among other things in Aion, being able to fly and pvp while doing so excites me. See you old FFXI guys in Aion, I will cancel my account when Aion comes out...don't really know why im holding on to it though. I heard EU got their release date for this year, when is it and when is ours, anyone know? (Gilgamesh-Scripture) |

Not being able to solo too well on FFXI is a big reason why it had such a great community. Everyone was always looking to group up and meet people. This, in turn, made everyone who played the game more knowledgable of what there roles where. I also liked that it took a long time to get somewhere. The game had a strong sense of progression (crucial rpg element). FFXI gave you a sense of acclomplishment when you gained a level or gained a new piece of gear because you really had to work on it and it usually required teamwork to some extent so even your guild (Linkshell) members felt a sense of accomplishment when you progressed. I hate when games just throw special abilities at you every level because your advancements and accomplishments get watered down. I'm hoping that Aion has that same "sense of progression/accomplishment" feel to it. |

with any luck, aion will be similar enough to ffxi not only because ffxi was prob the most in depth mmo ever, but also because it will bring along a strong, dedicated fan base with it |
