WoW.   Based on the quantity, quality, and number of initial players.

LoTRO second.

DAoC third.

CoH fourth.

All others running far behind those four.

WoW was, well to put it bluntly, fucked up at launch, basing it's launch success just on the number of people playing is stupid. Multiple server crashes, login issues that lasted months, falling through the landscape, I could go on for hours with WoW's issues at launch. However I'd be willing to bet you're one of those fanboi types that can't find fault in anything related to WoW.

As for the others they did Ok. LoTRO was most definately the best out of the list you have there, however again I state the current generation of gamers saddens me greatly because your knowledge of games flatly sucks. Most people like yourself think those are the only MMO games to have ever come out, and the few of you that do acknowledge older games, like UO never even touched it but think because it's old and has sorry graphics it must suck.

However UO's launch did suck. It was however the first true MMORPG, and everything it did was a testbed for every game to follow. So every step they took was new and when you do something totally new you're bound to screw up.

Who the hell picked Vanguard?   Talk about easy to please!  I played at launch and it was diabolical and I had a damn good rig.

I picked AoC because with such a massive sign up for a graghic heavy game it has ran amazingly well and it plays like an MMO that has been out for 6 months.  On the EU server they have ran several hot fixes and always at 4am - 8am.  Thus avoiding peak times.

"A world which has to create its own justice is a world without hope."

For some odd reason, i can't see the "Vote" button, but i'll add LotRO, and i've also heard PotC (or was that PotBS?) had a really smooth launch.

And whoever voted Vanguard deserves a million crashes and bugs in his next MMO.

Could we have this pinned, If not then could you guys (mmorpg stafff) make a poll  something like this and have like "best f2p" "best p2p" "best upcomeing game" "most anticipated flop of 2008" etc.. etc..

Would be nice, just to see what peoples thoughts are on things!

CoH and LoTRO were both pretty flawless for me.

Cynical? Me? Never.

Other than EQ2 being a horrible game at lauch it was as smooth as LOTRO.

UO and EQ1, had no expectations and simply enjoyed every minute of it right from the biggining, if anything these launches were perfect (cuz i didnt know any better), followed by poor execution of expansions.

Now my simpleness in the genre set to itself i'd have to proclaim the greatest launch i've been apart of was Vanguard, obviously any game that kills of 200k ppl in a month is that of legend...... ( why's it even on the list lol)

Joking finished its got to be LoTRO, though the game was far to carebear for a title that involves half war..... and its basically the biggest cookie cutter questfest ever made, everything did work on launch as intended, bugs were minimal, CS was decent, billing and sign up was great, patching was decent as well.  Canceling was a breeze.

It's not a coincidence though, that the simplest and most bland game on the market (with the worst diversity of classes ever made) would have the cleanest launch.
