I liked Age of Conan at first but after many many hours of play, a lvl 50 PoM, 42 DT and a few others, I am already bored... Here's what I gaved as reason to Funcom when I cancelled my subscription and is how I feel about the game. This ain't a troll post, just my thoughts, cuz I think it might help some people to determine if this game is for them. Reasons given to funcom : I've had a petition going on for days and I still ain't got no anwser. It seems like there is only one GM per servers working on. The game isn't balanced at all in PvP. Healer class isn't good at all. I feel like the game is not finished and polished. The world is bland. There's too many zoning. The quests are always : run around for hours from point A to B. There's way too many instances and therefor, the world seem alot smaller! The zones aren't connected, you got to talk to a npc to get around, wich doesn't give a feeling of exploration... etc.... I could go on like that forever. So basicly, the game is a huge down for someone who's looking for an immersive and huge world. Good try though. I felt like this MMORPG was meant alot more to a console user, wich I know, is what they are doing BUT I still think the world is bland and without life. Just some thoughts. Don't get angry with me, I'm by no mean a troll. |

Guess it's just not for everyone. Having a blast myself, ignoring the instancing ;) |

The suspense is terrible. I hope it will last. |
Its nothing personal, but if I did as many levels as you, I would have burned out myself. Knowing as many levels as you got, you must of liked it anyways, cause many people dont level that far and say I hate it. But the good thing about it, you can always come back and pickup where you left off. |

Well I don't feel that I'm leaving because I burnt myself out by playing too much because the leveling is actually very fast up to lvl 40. Doing quests require no grinding at all. I also was in the early access so I had a few days more than the rest. The only thing that I think sold me at first were the graphics. The first 20 levels were actually alot of fun. Within the 20 first levels, you could hear the NPC talk when u were talking to them but when you leave tortage, they just don't talk anymore. The quests are getting alot more boring and it's always the samething you do. Get from Point A to B. etc. It's just far from finished, especially with all those bug'ed quests. The game needed another 6 months in beta I think. I MIGHT come back one day... but not now. I think I'm more the problem, being an old MMORPG gamer that doesn't like instances. I like when everyone's together. I am playing MMORPGs and not to solo. I hate when you are in a group and it get all messed up because everyone is not in the same instances. People get frustrated and most of the time leave the group. I think the game wasn't made for me. I was wrong to buy it. But I had heard that after tortage that the instancing was ALOT less worse, wich I think is really wrong. I had also heard that the zones were connected, nope they weren't. I shouldn't have listened to these beta players or fanboi. The game is fine, but not great. Nothing new too. |

Look at the bright side. From the number of characters you have, I'd say you got your money's worth. |

Originally posted by Zakor dumn this is exactly almost the same posting I did after playing EVE for a good while.. sent a petition took amazing 4 weeks to get a reply very unbalanced when it comes to pvp etc.. I mean a space game with tons of players on the same server apart of a corp and alliance and still the game was empty.. I had a rant about this in another forum when I left EVE I was most frustrated by the time CCP took to handle my petition. In anycase my point is that a few days for petitions is ok but WEEKS??? In anycase I gave EVE a long time and AoC is defently worth giving more time... |

Don't get me wrong though, I did not leave because of bad customer service. But for the other reasons mentionned above. :D |

I find it fun and engaging for the moment, despite the drawbacks. I also dislike all the instancing, and the fact that the only way to get around is to teleport, effectively, by talking to NPCs -- it doesn't make the world seem very large or even properly connected. But I find the gameplay fun and engaging. I don't see this (for me) as a long term game, I can see how it will get boring after a few months, but for those few months I think it will be fun. |

I understand your reasons I mean it was exactly mostly the same as regards to me relationship to EVE.. I mean EVE looks nice... and that was all.. but the petition time was the final nail in the coffin for me as for EVE... regarding AoC I will probably give it more time than a few weeks.. but then ragarding my activty playing games since I have a real life it might take some time before I get tired. :) |
