Following this forum is really fun. In a way. It is SUCH a wonderful Vanguard deja vu ALL over, heh. Save that I stopped believing in the ability of humans to LEARN. It was what the Vanguard launch taught me, so when I was depressed about human stupidity then, I am amused only now.

Same old all over. Shit its the fan, but fanbois tell themselves the smell is acutally roses. Typical reply, as once so now: "there are no issues because I dont SEE any". Yes, there is no dying of species either, becaus heck, I never saw it happen before my eyes! Ignorance must be bliss indeed.

Just look at this forum. Do you really, seriously think, if so MANY post of issues, they are ALL just stupid hatebois? I mean, come on, seriously. You really should try to snap out of this defensive egomania-barrier and try to ACCEPT there MAY be a problem. Or many. The person who tells of an illness MAY acutally be a diagnostic, trying to help, ya know, and if he says there is a cancer in your guts it doesnt help to pretend there is none, because you cant see it.

Watching this whole thing unfold has been more entertaining than the game by far. I have even gotten my friends and family, who don't even play AoC themselves, to read some of these fanatical replies made in defense of FunCom. We really, honestly, burst out laughing and proceed to talk about it long after we have left the room.

We have started making jokes using the zealots replies as a base now too. The fanatically disturbed so obviously intend to force their will and vision upon others, that their comments wind up being comedy gold. My moms favorite wise-crack usually has something to do with the devs post about the demo community.

Like I said, so much more entertaining than the game at this point. :D

As for the OP, sry this thread is useless seeing as the game is out and most are playing the game.

Some fanboys say there's nothing wrong with the game and some trolls say there ain't nothing right. The truth is, as in everything in life, that it's somewhere in the middle. It's all opinions at this point. No the negatives are never ALL lying, but are you suggesting that ALL the positives are?

As I said, It's all opinions and this thread fails miserably, sry.

I personally draw as much enjoyment from reading the Haters as I do from reading the Fanbois as you call them. They are just as fanatical and zealous in their attacks on a game they do not care about as the Fanbois are in defending it.

So an all around win situation isn't it? I can enjoy playing a game (which has issues but is still enjoyable to me, go figure), and I can read forums and laugh my ass off about people acting as though MMO's are some sort of religion, some sort of God in whose name they have to fight and bash.

Dude, how can you even compare the two?  Your post is definently an ignorant one only created to start turmoil.    Besides, this forum is horrible, and there is nothing on it that I would even consider accurate or close to a valid opinion towards any game.   Seriously, give up.

He just picked Vanguard out as his personal experience. I have seen much the same cycle and format of arguments from both sides regarding several games. I saw it with Guild Wars, D@DO, LotRO...

People are desperate to keep others remaining hopeful and playing. They know the game is toast if everyone leaves, but they either love the game very much themselves, or believe that the game will be everything they hoped if they can just keep things rolling for a little while. Also, they probably want ONE freaking alternative to WoW.

What winds up happening is that they say crazy crap that they themselves don't believe and marginalize other players who are having serious problems. I think we ALL know better and see these responses for what they are, but our intents and purposes are varied.

 This begs another important question, at least for me, what happen to all the BETA testers? Didnt you guys inform the dev that there is not much quest after lvl 40? Didnt you guys warn them when you know that they are releasing the game too early?

 Or are you all testing another version of the game?

You've got to get this through your head, and this goes for most of the "haters" on this forum:

You are a minority.

You don't like hearing that because you found a little club, a little gathering of people here who all didn't quite like the game, focusing on this place like it's a vacuum, and you're bashing it in circles until it becomes a doomsday scenario.

To call this a Vanguard deja vu highlights this sort of ignorance, that it doesn't matter how accurate you are, it matters how emotional you are. You have no idea what you're talking about, saying things as if you're some sort of expert on the genre. You're just spouting things off so that if things DO go South, you can come here and say "I told you so" to a bunch of people who don't care.

That said, the biggest mistake someone could make is to completely dismiss the negative rantings -- there isn't a supporter in the world who believes the game's in perfect shape and doesn't need a lot of work. Anyone who tells you it is needs more meds than you do.

But don't treat these forums as if they represent the community.

If you're marginalized at all, it's because you're just as disillusioned as the people you're bashing, spewing off speculation as "fact" just in case your speculation comes true and you can come back saying "I told ya so!"

This is nothing compared to the old Dark and Light forums about the time Soldiers of Ganarth launched. I actually had people PM'ing me they were going to hack my computer to find out where I lived and hunt me down.

Back to topic though is this game really does have potential and the fans only see what is good about it. The fans can't see past that to what the game lacks and therefore attack anyone who points out the big red zit on their favorite cheerleaders chin. Also like it or not but this game was squarely aimed at the stereotypical teenage male with the "mature" rating,  pixilated boobies, and animated gore.

I am not surprised that a lot of the fan's react in less than a mature manner because of the demographics FC's marketing targeted as a core consumer. They  cannot discuss the game's flaws as well as praise the games good points without becoming overly emotional. And to compound the situation the game does have some really good features even if as a whole it is lacking in some respects.

Common sense should tell you that message boards always have more negative than positive things because:

1) Negative experiences stick with someone longer, and
2) People are too busy playing to post positive things.

Vocal minorities are just that. Here, they're spun into doomsday scenarios.

The people posting are a minority.

However I think the train of thought you are riding on is actually obsolete. It was true only a few years ago, but no longer. I believe, and have experienced in-game, that these thoughts do represent the community. You pretty much had to go to forum boards to find out about AoC in the first place.
