One question, is this games progression going to be another QUESTFEST?

You know, the only good way to level is kill 20 crocs, paperboy, servant shit again? ( i mean are we servants or epic heroes, brave warriors or mass murderors?)

5 years is enough of this crap, this games been in developement since WoW release so my guess is, yup, another questfest.

maybe in the first 10-15 lvls or so while you learn your class, ok, then maybe your a servant, but after that gimme a break.

I imagine quests will be the main form of experience gain although I've never played so I don't know.

What are your thoughts for an alternative system?

From what I've read you can level up either by questing, public quests (sorta like mini raids) and RvR. Might be other options as well, but apparently each is as fast as the other to level up.

Skill points, that are increased by performing the skill that you do is imo the best way.... however skillbased games are dead or dying so i dont expect this.

Alternative form's of level raising, is to increase such exp gained by boss' of dungeons that are being crawled, through forms of loot perhaps, gaining a piece of loot of that rare mob and or the boss mob or even random drop that someone in town can use to form an item for you and give you experience?  These are basically quests that arent the servant style.  Epic quests and or Heritage/destiny whatever you want to call them are great, keep them in.

Can give more exp for xploring places, like a hidden cave at teh cove or undwater dungeon, give more places that are explore xp as well as increasing it.

Experience tomes, and what have you that you can find in the world, or in hidden places, or throughout a dungeon *these can even work on the whole group*

These to me, in my own opinion, seem like fresher ways to cut down on the "grind feeling" speed up exp for the casual players, and wouldnt make you feel like the new city slave every town you reach.

Also wouldnt feel like your following the yellow brick road ( or yellow ! ? road in this case ), which allows you to create your own story within the game world.  While the epic/storyline quests are still there so your getting the story of the game as well.

Excellent, leveling with pvp?  from what i read it seemed that they were seperate circles? or levels ? guess i got that wrong, so you can strictly gain your progression in War through the use of PvP?

Or does the game cut your legs off by making questing a need for gear or what have you to stay competitive in pvp?

You have some interesting ideas and I'm sure many of them would work.

From RvRing you get:

* Xp

* Gear

* Reknown which is a seperate point system for gaining RvR levels (Reknown Ranks)

You can lvl entirely through PvP if you wish; there are even PvP based quests!

My dog ate your homework.

How to get XP in WAR:

Standard PvE Quests

Standard PvP Quests (kill 50 dwarf players, do something in PvP zone, that kind of thing)

killing mobs

killing other players

Public Quests - PvE event things, think "grind 2.0" there. Start killing some mobs and weird stuff starts to happen.

PvP scenarios (WoW battlegrounds but there's 30 of them)

Tome of Knowledge achievements - xp rewards for non-quest and sometimes non-combat  things. Like exploring a large part of the world map or killing a certain number of particular mobs or player races/classes. You have "plungers of the world" as well - places you're not supposed to reach (think map exploits) however if you manage to find them you get a) killed b) teleported to where your're supposed to be c) rewarded with a congratulation note, loads of xp and a Tome unlock. Nifty ey?

I think that's all. Is it?

/edit

and oh, RvR = PvP + PvE. Rather than separating the two with an invisible wall of fire (like in most other games) RvR integrates the two into a (hopefully) seamless whole.  For example, doing PvE quests contributes to your factions taking over PvP territory (through VPs) and you open up new PvE dungeons by conquering the PvP lands they're situated on.
