So that time of year has come round again, when all the fanbois get round the campfire and sing songs of the great darkfall and how it will release this year.

They should really make this an annual holiday or something, or more correctly a religious holiday?  Every time they announce the release of this game (lol) , there seems to be less and less fanbois singing its praises.

Maybe in time the children of the fanbois will take up the torch and their children after them and so on.  The darkfall legacy will live on no doubt when all of us are dead and buried and still they will come together each year and claim that, YES!, darkfall is coming out THIS year and the rest of the world is wrong.

So a thousand years from now, when the Earth is a global greenhouse of dust, the last man standing  may lay dying, and holding in his hand  a  scribbled note  with the words, "darkfall is coming....soon!"

it's actually more like "quarterly"... or at least twice a year.  Normally Quarterly.

There's the first one when they release that yearly vid in like Jan/Feb.
it sparks up again around spring time while the kids are on spring break and don't do anything but surf the net and a new round of fanboi's roll in.
Again during summer.

And finally my favorite:
During the fall, every year, "inside information because our guild has a Dev on it" about Beta starting.  Normally like Novemberish. (a story I've heard the past 2-3 years)

Randomly insert the ongoing war of "DFO VS *insert game releasing*" posts about twice a year being the hot topic.

After all these phases, there's a calm portion where the fans go their way to erect new shrines, and the trolls are bored and go their way to play a game.  During which, the fans are off playing whatever new release is on the market so they can sit and think "Darkfall will be sooo much better then this."

Yet both of you take time to come to a game forum that you dont believe will ever be released, that is vaporware?

Why?  What are you trying to prove?  What are your goals other then trolling and trying to start a flame war?

Sounds to me like maybe you need to find something to do during your summer break from highschool.

I never said it was vapor, did I?  I happen to be a fan of these Forums, they give endless enjoyment it seems.  I try to remain as neutral as possible, a skeptical fan, if you will.  Not because I want to play the game, but because I like to see gamers get what they'll enjoy.

I'm not attempting to start a flame war.  Why are you personally attacking me?  Does that make your argument look better to personally attack me, or my observations as stated in the post?

Finally, I'm not on "summer break" and it's been almost a decade since High School.  However, work at the studio doesn't start till 3-4pm, and I'm a morning person.  So I spend my mornings online, playing games, reading news, reading Forums, replying if I so desire, and playing with my pets.

In the evening I spend most my time working, since we normally disband around 3am and people go home.

when you reply to a post, attempt to attack the issue you wish to address, not the person.  Many of the DFO fans on this board have watched me both support, and attack, different aspects of the DFO Development cycle.  When I'm wrong, I'll admit it... don't like being wrong, but it's better to have the facts straight then spread mis-information.

That's all I ask, attack the topic, not the person.

Well if you did not attack Darkfall fans with your post, I would not have attacked you.   You may not have directly attack any one Darkfall fan but with your post and the post you quoted attack Darkfall fans in general.

Follow your own advice.

Waiting on CoS and Darkfall

oh but see, there's a distinctive dfiference between pointing out a history portrayed through the years, here, on this site, and attacking an individual.

I did not attack anybody, I merely pointed out the history you can easily reference as proof.

You attacked me, personally. (Against the EULA, by the way... but I'm not worried about it if you're not.)

So lets put this behind us and move back to the topic at hand, shall we.   Please read my post above your first one.

So here are my questions.

If this game is vaporware and it will never release and it been in development for ever and you think its crap, then why do you post about it?

I don't believe it's vaporware.  I don't think it's crap.

Why even bother to waste your time?

I told you, I'm a morning Person and I work evening-night.  We're actually in the middle of an air hockey tournament though, and I already lost... so it's not a waste really.

Why do you have to bash fans of Darkfall?  Why does it matter to you what I wait for?

I don't bash you.  I try to reflect on the past.
I'm glad you're waiting for something that will make you happy.

It doesn't.  Does it matter to you that I think there's a possibility it might not be released?

Why does it matter that I waste my time on something that you don't?  How does that make you better then me?

Doesn't matter to me what you do with your time... I spend at least 2 hours a day making my cat chase a red dot, want to talk about wasting time?

Who said anybody was better?

If Darkfall is vaporware and it never releases, what have I lost while waiting for Darkfall?  Kind in mind I am playing other MMOs while I wait.

I'm glad you're enjoying the industry I work in.  I'm glad you have expectations for future development.  Your time, your choice.

Why do you find it important to post about a game that you believe is never coming out?

I never said that.  I had that said about my game before, made a believer out of me.

Why is it important to bash fans of Darkfall?  What did they do to you?

Don't bash em really... but they do do abit of badgering all over the place that makes me a little unnerved.

I've had people all over things like my blog or MySpace because of my previous history in the MMO Industry.  So yes, they have previously attacked me personally elsewhere...

Do they bash the game you are waiting on or playing?

I'm sure they'd bash my game if I opened a Forum for them to do so unfortunately... just to spite me or because they have nothing better to do then that.

Does Darkfall scare you?  Do you believe that if Darkfall is releases as promised with all the features it will ruin your MMO?

Darkfall does not scare me... it's not anywhere near what I'm working on, so why would it scare me?

I don't see how/why Darkfall would ruin EverQuest 2 for me... they seem to appeal to very different crowds.

How about you get a sense of humour? I would of thought of any fans on this website Darkfall fans would have a sense of humour about their game?

Don;t be so sensitive, surely you can see the humour in a game that has announced its release almost every year since 2003?

If this game released with its full list of features I WOULD PLAY IT! but until the day its released (probably never to anyone who knows this games history)  then this game is just asking for a bit of fun to poked at it.

:)

You know first  there is something can be called Project, there  are diferent phases to a project one of  them "development" .

If you meant DF as Project for a decade then i am ok.

But you wrong with DF as in development for that long.

Do you count  the very first meeting where one of the developers may have spoke the sentence "i have an idea about an MMORPG with full loot and PvP centric" as in developement ?
